The People's Democratic Party (Macedonian : Народна демократска партија, Narodna Demokratska Partija, NDP) was an Albanian political party in Macedonia based in Tetovo.
Macedonian is a South Slavic language spoken as a first language by around two and a half million people, principally in North Macedonia and the Macedonian diaspora, with a smaller number of speakers throughout the transnational region of Macedonia. It is the official language of North Macedonia and a recognized minority language in parts of Albania, Romania, and Serbia.
Tetovo (Macedonian: Тетово, [ˈtɛtɔvɔ]; Albanian: Tetovë/Tetova; is a city in the northwestern part of the Republic of North Macedonia, built on the foothills of Šar Mountain and divided by the Pena River. The municipality of Tetovo covers an area of 1,080 km2 at 468 meters above sea level, with a population of 52,915. The city of Tetovo is the seat of Tetovo Municipality.
The party was established in July 1990, and was formally registered on 1 August. Iljaz Halimi was appointed party president, whilst Ibrahim Bedredin became secretary. It contested the 1990 parliamentary elections, at a time when Macedonia was still part of Yugoslavia. Running alone, it received 0.4% of the vote in the first round and 0.5% in the second, winning a single seat in the Assembly. [1] It also ran in alliance with the Party for Democratic Prosperity in some areas, with the alliance winning five seats.
The Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia was a country located in central and Southeastern Europe that existed from its foundation in the aftermath of World War II until its dissolution in 1992 amid the Yugoslav Wars. Covering an area of 255,804 km², the SFRY was bordered by the Adriatic Sea and Italy to the west, Austria and Hungary to the north, Bulgaria and Romania to the east, and Albania and Greece to the south.
The Party for Democratic Prosperity or PDP is an ethnic Albanian political party in North Macedonia. The party was formed in April 1990 and is currently led by Abdyladi Vejseli.
In the 1994 elections the party increased its vote share to 3%, winning four seats. [1] In 1997 it merged with the Party for Democratic Prosperity of Albanians to form the Democratic Party of Albanians. [2]
The Democratic Party of Albanians or DPA is a political party of ethnic Albanians in North Macedonia. The DPA is a merger of the Party for Democratic Prosperity of Albanians (PDPA) and the People's Democratic Party (NDP) which took place in June 1997. The former party was established in 1994 after some radical members of the Party for Democratic Prosperity, led by Menduh Thaçi and Arbën Xhaferi, left the PDP and the latter party was founded in August 1990 as a more radical opponent of the PDP.
The Social Democratic Party of Albania is a minor social-democratic political party in Albania. The party held seats in Parliament between 1992 and 1996, and again from 1997 until 2009. It is currently led by Skënder Gjinushi, a former Minister of Education (1987–1991) and Speaker of Parliament.
The Republican Party of Albania is a national-conservative political party in Albania. It currently holds no seats in the Parliament of Albania.
The Democratic Union for Integration is the largest Albanian political party in North Macedonia and the third largest political party in the country. It was formed immediately after the country's 2001 conflict between the National Liberation Army (NLA) and the Macedonian Security Forces. The NLA leader Ali Ahmeti became party president.
The Liberal Party of Macedonia is a liberal party in North Macedonia. The party is a member of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe Party, and is currently led by Ivon Velickovski.
Albanians are the largest ethnic minority in the Republic of North Macedonia. Of the 2,022,547 citizens of North Macedonia, 509,083, or 25.2%, are Albanian according to the national census of 2002. The Albanian minority is concentrated mostly in the western, north-western and partially middle area of the country with small communities located in the south-west. The largest Albanian communities are in the municipalities of Tetovo, Gostivar (66.7%), Debar (58.1%), Struga (56.8%), Kičevo (54.5%), Kumanovo (25.8%) and Skopje (20.4%).
The Democratic League of Bosniaks is a political party in North Macedonia, representative of the ethnic Bosniaks living in North Macedonia.
Parliamentary elections were in Macedonia on 5 July 2006. The result was a victory for the VRMO-DPNME-led coalition, which won 45 of the 120 seats of the Macedonian Parliament.
Early parliamentary elections were held in Macedonia on 1 June 2008, after the Assembly voted to dissolve itself on 12 April 2008. The result was a victory for the VMRO-DPMNE-led alliance, which won 63 of the 120 seats in the Assembly.
The Liberal Democratic Party is a liberal political party in North Macedonia. The Liberal Democratic Party was launched in April 1997 as a merger between the Liberal Party and the Democratic Party. The first leader of the party was Petar Goshev from the Democrats, who was also the last president of the League of Communists of Macedonia. When the Liberal Party was re-established in 1999, a significant portion of the former Liberal Party remained in LDP.
The Party for Justice, Integration and Unity is a nationalist political party in Albania whose primary aim is the promotion of national issues. The party's goals and objectives are to express the struggle of the "Ethnic Albanians", who after world and regional wars, are facing challenges that affect their rights. In the light of paradigms such as freedom and human rights, these challenges bring them together, forge common interests, and constitute their national issues." The party focuses on highlighting national issues, including Kosovo, Albanians in North Macedonia, Montenegro, Presevo Valley and especially the Cham issue.
The National Democratic Revival is a political party in North Macedonia that represents the Albanian population. It is the branch of the Democratic League of Kosovo in North Macedonia.
Parliamentary elections were held in Albania on 23 June 2013. The result was a victory for the Alliance for a European Albania led by the Socialist Party and its leader, Edi Rama. Incumbent Prime Minister Sali Berisha of the Democratic Party-led Alliance for Employment, Prosperity and Integration conceded defeat on 26 June, widely viewed as a sign of growing democratic maturity in Albania.
General elections were held in the Republic of Macedonia in April 2014 to elect the President and members of parliament. The first round of the presidential elections were held on 13 April, with incumbent president Gjorge Ivanov finishing first with 53% of the vote. However, as he did not receive the support of 50% of all registered voters, a second round was held on 27 April, alongside parliamentary elections, with Ivanov and the ruling coalition led by VMRO-DPMNE claiming victory as Ivanov was elected president and the VMRO-DPMNE won 61 of the 123 seats in the Assembly.

Albanians Together was an Albanian political alliance in Montenegro.
Parliamentary elections were held in Albania on 25 June. They were first scheduled for 18 June, but after a possible boycott was announced by the opposition parties, during a large political crisis that lasted 3 months, an agreement was reached between all the political parties on 18 May to change the date. On 28 June, the central election council announced that the Socialist party had won a majority.
