Visitors to North Macedonia must obtain a visa from one of the North Macedonia diplomatic missions unless they are citizens of one of the visa-exempt countries.
Visa policy of North Macedonia is similar to the visa policy of the Schengen Area. It grants 90-day visa-free entry to all Schengen Annex II nationalities except Dominica, Grenada, Kiribati, Marshall Islands, Micronesia, Palau, Samoa, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Solomon Islands, Timor-Leste, Tonga, Trinidad and Tobago, Tuvalu and Vanuatu. It also grants visa-free access to the European Union candidate member country of Turkey, whose citizens are still required visa for entry to the Schengen Area unlike the other candidates.
Foreign visitors must have a passport that are valid for at least 90 days from the date of arrival, and show an accommodation booking if they have no residence in the country.

In addition to countries whose citizens are visa-exempt, holders of diplomatic or official passports of the following countries may enter North Macedonia without a visa:

Citizens of North Macedonia may enter without a visa to most countries whose citizens are allowed visa-free entry to North Macedonia, but they require a visa for Antigua and Barbuda (grants electronic entry visa), Australia, Brunei, Canada, Ireland, Mauritius (grants visa on arrival), Mexico, New Zealand, Paraguay, Saint Kitts and Nevis (grants e visa), South Korea, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, United States, Uruguay and Venezuela.
Public holidays are observed in the Republic of North Macedonia for a number of reasons, including religious and national significance. They are generally accompanied by celebrations. The holidays are regulated by the 1998 Law on Holidays. If a national holiday happens to be observed on a Sunday, the next (working) day (Monday) will be non-working.

North Macedonian passport are issued to citizens of North Macedonia for the purpose of international travel. Responsibility for their issuance lies with the Ministry of the Interior. The validity of the passport is 5 years for persons 4 to 27 years of age and 10 years for those 27 years of age and older. For children ages four and under, the validity of the passport is limited to two years. The passports conform to the recommended standards of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), and are biometric passports.
The American University of Europe (AUE) is a private university with headquarters in Skopje, North Macedonia. It is the second private university established in North Macedonia after the liberalization of the High education law's in 2002.
The Identity card of North Macedonia is a compulsory identity document issued in North Macedonia. The document is issued by the police on behalf of the Ministry of Interior.
Law enforcement in North Macedonia is the responsibility of the Police of the Republic of North Macedonia.
The University of Information Science and Technology "St. Paul The Apostle" is a public university in North Macedonia. As of 2018–19 school year, a total of 375 students are enrolled at the university.

The COVID-19 pandemic in North Macedonia was a part of the ongoing worldwide pandemic of coronavirus disease 2019 caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2. The virus was confirmed to have reached North Macedonia in February 2020. The initial contagion in the country was mainly connected with the COVID-19 pandemic in Italy as there are circa 70,000 residents of Italy from North Macedonia and resulted in many people returning to North Macedonia, bringing the virus with them. As of 9 July, over 7,000 cases have been confirmed in the country, due to its second wave caused by family reunions during Eid al-Fitr among the Muslim minority and the overall re-opening of the country to organize the parliamentary elections.
The 2021 North Macedonia census, officially known as the Census of Population, Households and Dwellings, 2021, was the third census held in North Macedonia since independence, and the first since 2002. The census recorded a resident population of 1,836,713, a decrease of 9.2 percent, or 185,834, over the preceding 19 years. The census was taken during the COVID-19 pandemic, which affected its administration. It was also considered controversial by some Macedonian groups; the opposition party The Left openly led a boycott. 132,260 individuals did not participate in the census and are officially labelled as "persons for whom data are taken from administrative sources"; no ethnic, language, or religious information is available for these individuals. Nonetheless, the head of the State Statistical Office, Apostol Simovski, stated that the census was successful. The ruling government and the European Commission also welcomed the results.
