Most visitors to Ecuador can enter the country without a visa. However, visitors from certain countries must first obtain a visa in advance before being allowed to enter.
Citizens of most countries may stay up to 90 days without a valid visa. All visitors must hold a national passport valid for 6 months, (except citizens of Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Paraguay, Peru & Uruguay who can also enter Ecuador with a national ID card). [1]
As of July 5, 2024, travelers required to obtain a visa to visit Ecuador can apply through the government portal. Nationals of the following 39 countries must obtain a visa to travel to Ecuador. [1] [2] [3]
1 - A visa is not required if holding an approval code.
2 - Expired passports or other ID documentation accepted. Due to the crisis in Venezuela, the government is offering citizens special visas (including humanitarian and temporary permits) to enter the country.

All visitors to Galápagos Islands must obtain a Transit Control Card at the airport for a fee. [19]
Visitors may pre-register for the Transit Control Card online, to save some time, but they will still be required to complete the process at the airport. [20]

Guatemalan passports are issued to Guatemalan citizens to travel outside Guatemala. As of 1 February 2024, Guatemalan citizens had visa-free or visa on arrival access to 137 countries and territories, ranking the Guatemalan passport 38th in terms of travel freedom according to the Henley visa restrictions index.
Visitors to the Republic of China (Taiwan) must obtain a visa or authorization in advance, unless they come from one of the visa exempt countries or countries whose nationals are eligible for visa on arrival. All visitors must hold a passport valid for 6 months.
An Ecuadorian passport is an identity document issued to citizens of Ecuador for the purpose of international travel. It is issued by the Registro Civil, Identificación y Cedulación in Ecuador, and the Minister of Foreign Affair Embassies & Consulates abroad. The Ecuadorian passport is a type of Andean passport, allowing for free rights of movement and residence in any of the Andean Community members. The Ecuador passport is normally issued for 10 years and has the benefit of having "visa-free" status for Andean Community and Mercosur members nations, and several Centro America nations.

Visitors not holding return / onward tickets could be refused entry. Naturalized Venezuelan citizens, must hold in addition to their passport and National Identity Card, the original of the official decree of their naturalization issued by the Venezuelan government.

Visitors to Peru must obtain a visa from one of the Peruvian diplomatic missions unless they are citizens of one of the visa-exempt countries.
Visitors to Colombia must obtain a visa from one of the Colombian diplomatic missions or online unless they come from one of the visa-exempt countries.
Visitors to Argentina must obtain a visa from one of the Argentine diplomatic missions unless they are citizens of one of the visa-exempt countries.
Visitors to Uruguay must obtain a visa from one of the Uruguayan diplomatic missions unless they come from one of the visa exempt countries.
Visitors to Tunisia must obtain a visa from one of the Tunisian diplomatic missions unless they come from one of the visa exempt countries.
Visitors to Panama require a visa unless they are eligible for Third-Country visa exemptions for stays up to 30 days by either possessing a valid visitor or resident visa for any of the following nations: UK, USA, Canada, the EU, Australia, Japan, Singapore, South Korea; or if they are citizens of one of the eligible countries who do not require a visa for stays up to 90 days; up to 180 days for visitors who are citizens of the United States or Canada. All visitors must hold a passport valid for at least 3 months before expiry date.
Visitors to Antigua and Barbuda must obtain an Electronic Entry Visa (EEV), unless they come from one of the visa exempt countries.
Visitors to Cape Verde must obtain a visa to enter, unless they come from one of the visa-exempt countries, which are mostly in Africa, Europe and the Americas. Visa may be obtained in advance from a Cape Verde embassy or consulate, or in person upon arrival at any of the international airports.
Visitors to Cuba must obtain a visa before travel or a tourist card from one of the Cuban diplomatic missions, travel agencies or authorized airlines unless they come from one of the visa exempt countries. Electronic visa is also available.
Visitors to El Salvador must obtain a visa from one of the Salvadoran diplomatic missions, unless they come from one of the visa exempt countries. All visitors must hold a passport valid for 6 months.
Visitors to Guatemala must obtain a visa from one of the Guatemalan diplomatic missions, unless they come from one of the visa exempt countries.
Visitors to Guinea must obtain an eVisa unless they come from one of the countries or territories that are visa exempt. Alternatively visas can be obtained from a Guinean diplomatic mission.
