Per Gessle was released on 8 April 1983 and is the debut solo studio album from Swedish pop artist Per Gessle. The album peaked at number five on the Swedish Albums Chart. Before releasing this album, Gessle was already a famous lead vocalist of the Swedish pop band Gyllene Tider. A re-release on CD, released on 1 September 1992, contained three bonus tracks.

Per Gessle

Per Håkan Gessle is a Swedish pop singer, songwriter and musician. He is best known as the male half and primary lyricist of the Swedish pop rock duo Roxette, which he formed with Marie Fredriksson in 1986 and which was disbanded after her death in 2019. The duo achieved international success in the late-1980s and early-1990s with their albums Look Sharp! (1988) and Joyride (1991), and topped the charts in the US four times, most notably with "It Must Have Been Love" which was featured in the film Pretty Woman. Prior to the formation of Roxette, he had a successful career in native Sweden as the frontman for Gyllene Tider. The band released three number-one albums during the early 1980s but disbanded shortly after their fourth album, The Heartland Café (1984).

On 31 December 1995 the band was disbanded after singing and playing together for almost 40 years. Starting with the 1981 album Håll dig kvar, the band's singer was Mona Gustafsson, who wrote the band's 1992 song "Dej ska jag älska all min tid" which won the 1992 Hänt song contest in Älvsjö. After the band was disbanded, Mona Gustafsson, Patrik Ahlm and René Saulesco founded another dansband, Mona G:s orkester.
