Persami (stand for Persatuan Sepakbola Maumere Indonesia) is the Indonesian football club based in the Maumere, Sikka Regency, East Nusa Tenggara. They currently play in the Liga 3.
Flores is one of the Lesser Sunda Islands, a group of islands in the eastern half of Indonesia. Sikka is a regency within East Nusa Tenggara province, Indonesia, on the island of Flores. It is bordered to the west by Ende Regency and to the east by East Flores Regency. It covers an area of 1,731.91 km2 and had a population of 300,301 at the 2010 census and 321,953 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as at mid 2022 was 326,999. The capital is the town of Maumere, which comprises the districts of Alok Barat, Alok and Alok Timur.
Maumere is the administrative seat of the Sikka Regency and the second largest town on Flores Island, Indonesia. It lies on the north coast of the island and the port is in the north-west part of the town. Administratively the town is not a single district (kecamatan) within the regency, but is divided into three districts – Alok Barat, Alok and Alok Timur – although the latter two districts also include a number of substantial islands off the north coast of Flores.
Frans Xavier Seda Airport, also known as Wai Oti Airport or Maumere Airport, is an airport serving Maumere, the capital city of Sikka Regency and the largest town on the island of Flores, in the province of East Nusa Tenggara in Indonesia. Maumere is known for its reefs in the Gulf of Maumere which were once considered some of the finest diving in the world. The airport is named in honor of Frans Seda (1926–2009), who is a former finance minister of Indonesia.

The 1992 Flores earthquake and tsunami occurred on December 12 on the island of Flores in Indonesia. With a magnitude of 7.8 and a maximum Mercalli intensity of VIII (Severe), it was the largest and also the deadliest earthquake in 1992 and in the Lesser Sunda Islands region. The earthquake was caused by slip on the Flores Thrust fault. This fault dips to the south underneath Flores Island. The epicenters of most earthquakes on the Flores Thrust are on Flores island.

PT TransNusa Aviation Mandiri, operating as TransNusa, is an Indonesian low-cost carrier based in Jakarta Soekarno–Hatta International Airport. It was launched in August 2005, serving various destinations from Kupang, Timor, using aircraft chartered from Pelita Air and Trigana Air Service. The 1982 Flores earthquake struck the island of Flores in Indonesia on December 25. Registering a moment magnitude of 5.9, according to the International Seismological Centre, it created landslides and was reportedly accompanied by a tsunami. The earthquake killed thirteen people and left 390 injured, also destroying 1,875 houses and 121 other buildings. The villages of Layahong and Oyong Barang were damaged by seven seconds of shaking.
