The group originally formed in 1994 as Kara's Flowers while they were still attending high school. With a line-up of Adam Levine, Jesse Carmichael, Mickey Madden and Ryan Dusick, they released their independent album, We Like Digging? in 1995. In 1997, they signed to Reprise Records and released an album, The Fourth World. After a tepid response to the album, the band parted with their record label and attended college. In 2001, the band regrouped and added James Valentine to the lineup, and pursued a new direction under the name Maroon 5.

Jamaican-American singer Shaggy has released seventeen studio albums, seven compilation albums, eighty-eight singles and forty-seven music videos. He is best known for his hit singles "Oh Carolina", "Boombastic", "It Wasn't Me", and "Angel". In 2000, Shaggy released the album Hot Shot, which was certified 6× Platinum in the United States. The album featured the singles "It Wasn't Me" and "Angel", the latter of which was built around two song samples – Merrilee Rush's 1968 hit "Angel of the Morning", and The Steve Miller Band's 1973 hit "The Joker". In 2001 Shaggy performed with Rayvon and Rikrok at Michael Jackson's 30th anniversary the songs "Angel" and "It Wasn't Me" from Hot Shot. The album hit number one on the US Billboard 200 and UK Albums Chart. As of 2007, Shaggy has sold over 20 million albums worldwide.

Influenced by pop rock, pop punk and teen pop genres, the album was successful in Australia, where it reached number two and gained quadruple Platinum certification from the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA). The album's lead single, "4ever", peaked at number two on the Australian Singles Chart and became a top-twenty hit in countries such as Ireland, New Zealand and the United Kingdom. She released her debut live album The Journey in February 2007, which features songs she performed as part of the top twelve on Australian Idol. The album debuted at number four on the ARIA Albums Chart and was certified gold by the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA), denoting shipments of 35,000 copies. Mauboy briefly became a member of the Australian pop girl group Young Divas later that year, before resuming her solo career early in 2008.

She became the first X Factor Australia contestant to follow up a number one single with a number one album on the ARIA Charts.

Norwegian DJ and record producer Kygo has released four studio albums, one extended play, 43 singles, 8 promotional singles, 13 remixes and 29 music videos. According to Recording Industry Association of America, Kygo has sold 10 million certified albums and singles in the US, including the multi-platinum hits "It Ain't Me" with Selena Gomez and "Higher Love" with Whitney Houston.
