Peter Aho (born 2 March 2003) is a Nigerian cricketer. [1] [2] In March 2019, he was named in the Nigeria national under-19 cricket team that qualified for the 2020 Under-19 Cricket World Cup. [3] It was the first time that Nigeria had qualified for a Cricket World Cup tournament. [4] [5]

In September 2021, Aho featured in Nigeria's Twenty20 International (T20I) squad for the 2021–22 Uganda Tri-Nation Series tournament. [6] He made his T20I debut on 11 September 2021 against Kenya. [7] The following month, he was also named in Nigeria's T20I squad for their home series against Sierra Leone. [8] In the fifth match of the series, Aho took six wickets for five runs to record the best ever bowling figures in a T20I match. [9] [10] He also became the first bowler for Nigeria to take a five-wicket haul [11] and a hat-trick in a T20I match. [12]

In October 2021, he was named in Nigeria's squad for the Regional Final of the 2021 ICC Men's T20 World Cup Africa Qualifier tournament in Rwanda. [13]

The 2021 ICC Women's T20 World Cup Africa Qualifier was a cricket tournament that was played in Botswana in September 2021. The matches were played as Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is), with the top team progressing to the 2022 ICC Women's T20 World Cup Qualifier tournament. Botswana, Cameroon and Eswatini made their debut at an ICC women's event. Malawi were originally named as a participants in the tournament, but they were replaced by Eswatini.

The 2021–22 Uganda Tri-Nation Series, also known as the Pearl of Africa T20I Series, was a Twenty20 International (T20I) cricket tournament that was held in Uganda in September 2021. The participating teams were the hosts Uganda, along with Kenya and Nigeria. The tournament was originally planned to consist of 13 T20I matches, with the sides facing each other four times in a round-robin stage, followed by a final between the top two teams. The round-robin was later reduced by three matches with each team facing each other three times. The tournament provided preparation for all sides ahead of T20 World Cup Africa Qualifier events took place in October and November 2021.

The Sierra Leone cricket team toured Nigeria in October 2021 to play six Twenty20 International (T20I) matches at the University of Lagos (Unilag) Cricket Oval in the Akoka suburb of Lagos. The series provided both sides with preparation for the T20 World Cup Africa Qualifier in November 2021. The series also saw a resumption of the long-running cricketing rivalry between the two north-west African nations.
