Peter Kamais (born 7 November 1976) is a Kenyan long-distance runner who specialises in road running events.
He was the winner at the Oeiras International Cross Country and Almond Blossom Cross Country races in 2006, [1] but it was at the Cursa de Bombers 10K where he established himself, taking consecutive wins in 2006 and 2007. He knocked almost a minute of the course record in 2006 as he crossed the line with a time of 27:29 minutes. [2]
In 2009, he came seventh at the Berlin Half Marathon, [3] going on to win at the Paderborn Easter Run, and then running one of the fastest times of the year at the Tilburg 10K, which he won in 27:09 minutes. [4] [5] This ranked him as the fourth fastest ever over the distance at the time. [6]
He upset the predictions for the 2010 New York City Half Marathon, taking the men's title with his first time under an hour (59:53 minutes) and beating opposition including Haile Gebrselassie and Moses Kigen Kipkosgei. [7] Kamais came second to Gebre Gebremariam at the UAE Healthy Kidney 10K in Central Park in May. [8] He was invited to the 2010 New York City Marathon later that year and he completed his debut over the distance with a time of 2:14:59 hours for twelfth place. [9] He returned to the New York Half in March 2011, but a clash with Galen Rupp upset his run and he ended the race in fifth place. [10] He repeated that placing at the 2011 Beijing Marathon and set a personal best time of 2:12:58 hours in the process. [11]
Kamis set a new personal best time in the 2012 Xiamen International Marathon, winning the race in a course record of 2:07:37. [12]
Gebregziabher Gebremariam is a retired Ethiopian long-distance runner. He established himself at the IAAF World Cross Country Championships, winning the junior title in 2002 and two silver medals in the senior races in 2004. He represented Ethiopia over 5000 metres at the 2004 Summer Olympics, taking fourth place, and over 10000 metres at the 2012 Summer Olympics. He was the 2009 World Champion in cross country.

She represented France at the 2008 Summer Olympics and has competed a number of times in the IAAF World Half Marathon Championships. She has had top-three finishes in the New York Marathon, Paris Marathon and the Course Paris-Versailles
Samuel Muturi Mugo is a Kenyan athlete who specialises in long distance running, particularly the marathon. He also competes under the name Sammy Mugo.
Wilson Kipsang Kiprotich is a Kenyan professional athlete who specialises in long-distance running, competing in events ranging from 10 km to the marathon. He was the bronze medallist in the marathon at the 2012 Summer Olympics. He is the former world record holder in the marathon with a time of 2:03:23, which he set at the 2013 Berlin Marathon. He has run under 2 hours 4 minutes for the marathon on four occasions.
Samuel Kiplimo Kosgei was a Kenyan long-distance runner who specializes in road running competitions.
Ayad Lamdassem El Mouhcine is a long distance runner. Born in Morocco, he competes for Spain internationally. He has represented Spain twice in the 10,000 metres at the Summer Olympics as well as the European Athletics Championships.
Leonard Patrick Komon is a Kenyan professional long-distance runner and was the world record holder in the 10 kilometres. His 10K world record in 2010 with a time of 26:44 is a 17 seconds improvement on the previous best. He won a half marathon with 59:14 in 2014 (Berlin), which was the fastest debut half marathon in history at the time.
Fate Tola Geleto is an Ethiopian long-distance runner who competes in marathon races. She represented Ethiopia at the IAAF World Half Marathon Championships and has won marathons in Thessaloniki and Vienna. She lives in Germany and trains with Irina Mikitenko. Since 2012, she competes for the German club MTV Braunschweig.
Mamitu Daska Molisa, also known as Mamitu Deska, is an Ethiopian long-distance runner who specialises in road running events, including the marathon. She is a two-time team silver medallist at the IAAF World Cross Country Championships. She has won the Dubai Marathon and Houston Marathon and has a personal best of 2:21:59 hours for the distance.
Merima Mohammed Hasen is an Ethiopian professional long-distance runner who competes in road running events, including the marathon. Her personal best of 2:23:06 hours for the distance makes her the second fastest teenager ever over the 42.195 kilometres (26.219 mi) distance. She has won marathons in Düsseldorf, Nice and Ottawa. She represented Ethiopia at the IAAF World Cross Country Championships in 2011.
Belaynesh Fikadu is an Ethiopian long-distance runner who competes in road running competitions. She represented her country at the African Championships in Athletics in 2008, coming fourth. She has won the Tilburg 10K, Dam tot Damloop and International Chiba Ekiden.
Peter Cheruiyot Kirui is a Kenyan professional long-distance runner who competes over 10,000 metres on the track and in road running competitions. He was the 2011 Kenyan champion over 10,000 m and came sixth at the 2011 World Championships in Athletics. He has acted as a pacemaker for major marathons and has a marathon best of 2:06:31 hours. His best for the half marathon is 59:22 minutes.
Joyce Chepkirui is a Kenyan long-distance runner who competes in road running events. She established herself as a half marathon runner, winning races in Granollers, Bogotá and Gothenburg. She set a best of 1:06:19 hours to win the 2014 Prague Half Marathon. She also competes in 10K road races and her personal best of 30:38 minutes makes her fifth fastest woman ever.
Flomena Chepchirchir is a Kenyan professional long-distance runner who competes in half marathon and marathon events. Chepchirchir has won half marathons in Venlo, Glasgow and Zwolle. She is a two-time winner of the BIG 25 Berlin race. She has a half marathon best of 1:08:22 hours and a marathon best of 2:23:00 hours.
Dickson Kiptolo Chumba is a Kenyan long-distance runner who competes in marathon races. He has won the Rome, Eindhoven, Tokyo, and Chicago marathons and has a personal best of 2:04:32 for the distance.
