Peter Edward McIntyre (born 27 April 1966) is a former Australian cricketer who played in two Test matches in the 1990s.
He was a leg-spin bowler, unlucky to have arrived at the same time as fellow spin bowlers Shane Warne, and to a lesser extent,Stuart MacGill;consequently he never managed to establish himself fully in the national side. He played in two Tests, one against England in Adelaide in 1995 and another against India at New Delhi in 1996.
Peter McIntyre had an unprecedented success rate against Sachin Tendulkar, who played against him just once –in a one-off Test in Delhi in October 1996 (Shane Warne was missing after finger surgery). It was Tendulkar's first match as captain –he started with a victory, despite a modest match personally with the bat –and McIntyre had him caught for 10 by Mark Waugh with the second ball he bowled to him. McIntyre went on to take 3 for 103 but, according to Wisden,"bowled steadily but without variation or much imagination". This was his second Test –and he did not play another one, once Warne returned.
In the 1995–96 Sheffield Shield final,he and Shane George,South Australia's last two batsmen, held out the Western Australian bowlers for 40 minutes to ensure a draw and,as a result, victory for South Australia in the season's Shield competition. [1]
He retired from first-class cricket in 2002,having debuted in 1988.
Leg spin is a type of spin bowling in cricket. A leg spinner bowls right-arm with a wrist spin action. The leg spinner's normal delivery causes the ball to spin from right to left when the ball bounces on the pitch. For a right-handed batsman, that is away from the leg side, and this is where it gets the name leg break.
Anil Kumble is a former Indian cricket captain, coach and commentator who played Test and One Day International cricket for his national team over an international career of 18 years. Widely regarded as one of the best leg spin bowlers in Test cricket history,he took 619 wickets in Test cricket and is the fourth highest wicket taker of all time as of 2022. In 1999 while playing against Pakistan,Kumble dismissed all ten batsmen in a Test match innings, joining England's Jim Laker as the second player to achieve the feat. Unlike his contemporaries,Kumble was not a big turner of the ball, but relied primarily on pace, bounce, and accuracy. He was nicknamed "Apple" and "Jumbo". Kumble was selected as the Cricketer of the Year in 1993 Indian Cricket, and one of the Wisden Cricketers of the Year three years later.
Ricky Thomas Ponting is an Australian cricket coach, commentator, and former cricketer. Ponting was captain of the Australian national team during its "golden era",between 2004 and 2011 in Test cricket and 2002 and 2011 in One Day Internationals (ODIs) and is the most successful captain in international cricket history, with 220 victories in 324 matches with a winning rate of 67.91%. He is widely considered to be one of the best batsmen of the modern era and in December 2006 reached the highest rating achieved by a Test batsman for 50 years, although this was surpassed by Steve Smith in December 2017. He stands second in the list of cricketers by number of international centuries scored, behind Sachin Tendulkar.
The Border–Gavaskar Trophy is a Test cricket series played between India and Australia. It is played via the International Cricket Council's future tours program, every two years.

Stuart Charles Glyndwr MacGill is an Australian former cricketer who played 44 Test matches and three One Day Internationals for the Australian national cricket team. He is a right-arm leg spin bowler, who has been credited with having the best strike rate of any modern leg-spin bowler, but he did not have a regular place in the Australian Test team due to the dominance of Shane Warne in the position of sole spinner. His bowling was slightly slower through the air than Warne's,but he was a prodigious turner of the ball.
Gregory Richard John Matthews is a New South Wales and Australian former cricket all rounder who is now a television cricket commentator.
The Ball of the Century, also referred to as the Gatting Ball or simply That Ball,is a cricket delivery bowled by Australian spin bowler Shane Warne to English batter Mike Gatting on 4 June 1993,the second day of the first Test of the 1993 Ashes series,at Old Trafford in Manchester. With his first ball against England,in his first Ashes Test,Warne produced a spectacular delivery that bowled Gatting out. It became recognised as being of significance not just in the context of the match, but more generally in signalling a revival of leg spin bowling.

The tour was Australia's first to South Africa since the end of the apartheid regime which had led to a sporting boycott of the country. Australia's most recent tour to South Africa had taken place in 1969–70 and a planned tour of the country in 1971–72 had been cancelled after the International Cricket Conference had imposed a moratorium on tours in 1970 and following the player withdrawals and protests which accompanied the tour of Australia by the South African rugby union side during 1971. The Australian Cricket Board postponed their proposed tour of Sri Lanka in order to schedule the series, paying A$50,000 compensation to the Board of Control for Cricket in Sri Lanka.
The South Africa national cricket team toured Australia in the 1993–94 season to play three test matches against Australia in Melbourne,Sydney and Adelaide. These were played from 26 December 1993 to 1 February 1994. The tour was the first made by the South Africa cricket team to Australia in 30 years and was undertaken as the apartheid system was being dismantled in South Africa and the country transitioned to democratic government. Kepler Wessels captained the South Africans in the first two tests. After a hand injury,Hansie Cronje replaced him for the third test. Allan Border was Australia's captain for the series.
The Australian cricket team toured India from February to April 2001 for a three-Test series and a five-match ODI series. The series is considered one of India's finest,as they secured victory against Australia in the Test series,in the process breaking Australia's 16-match win streak in Tests, and being the third side to win a Test match after being asked to follow-on during the match in Kolkata. The Kolkata match has been widely regarded as one of the greatest matches in the sport's history.
