Peter Edward McIntyre (born 27 April 1966) is a former Australian cricketer who played in two Test matches in the 1990s.
He was a leg-spin bowler, unlucky to have arrived at the same time as fellow spin bowlers Shane Warne and Stuart MacGill;consequently he never managed to establish himself in the national side. He played in two Tests, one against England in Adelaide in 1995 and another against India at New Delhi in 1996.
McIntyre dismissed Sachin Tendulkar in Tendulkar's first Test match as captain, caught for 10 by Mark Waugh with the second ball McIntyre bowled to him. He went on to take 3 for 103 but, according to Wisden,"bowled steadily but without variation or much imagination". This was his second Test –and he did not play another one, once Warne returned.
In the 1995–96 Sheffield Shield final,he and Shane George,South Australia's last two batsmen, held out the Western Australian bowlers for 40 minutes to ensure a draw and,as a result, victory for South Australia in the season's Shield competition. [1]
He retired from first-class cricket in 2002,having debuted in 1988.
Leg spin is a type of spin bowling in cricket. A bowler who uses this technique is called a leg spinner. Leg spinners bowl with their right-arm and a wrist spin action. The leg spinner's normal delivery is a leg break, which spins from right to left when the ball bounces on the pitch. For a right-handed batter, the ball breaks towards them from the leg side, hence the name 'leg break'.
Brett Lee is an Australian former international cricketer, who played all three formats of the game. During his international career,Lee was recognised as one of the fastest bowlers in the world. With his time representing Australia,Lee won multiple ICC titles with the team:the 2003 Cricket World Cup,the 2006 ICC Champions Trophy, and the 2009 ICC Champions Trophy. Lee was the first bowler to take a hat-trick in the T20 format of the game which he did in 2007 ICC World Twenty20 in the inaugural tournament against Bangladesh, subsequently being the first bowler to do so at an ICC Men's T20 World Cup. Lee was also the first Australian bowler to take a hat-trick at a Cricket World Cup which he did in the 2003 Cricket World Cup Super Match game against Kenya.
Stuart Charles Glyndwr MacGill is an Australian former cricketer who played 44 Test matches and three One Day Internationals for the Australian national cricket team. He is a right-arm leg spin bowler, who has been credited with having the best strike rate of any modern leg-spin bowler, but he did not have a regular place in the Australian Test team due to the dominance of Shane Warne in the position of sole spinner.
Gregory Richard John Matthews is a New South Wales and Australian former cricket all rounder. He was popular with fans as "a tough, useful, determined little cricketer;a steady,flat,off-spin bowler;a staunch, correct left-hand bat;and a brilliant fielder.... also a cocky, slightly zany character."
The Ball of the Century, also referred to as the Gatting Ball or simply That Ball,is a cricket delivery bowled by Australian spin bowler Shane Warne to English batter Mike Gatting on 4 June 1993,the second day of the first Test of the 1993 Ashes series,at Old Trafford in Manchester. With his first ball against England,in his first Ashes Test,Warne produced a spectacular delivery that bowled Gatting out.
