The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) is a public research university located in Hung Hom,Hong Kong near Hung Hom station. The University is one of the eight government-funded degree-granting tertiary institutions in Hong Kong. Founded in 1937 as the first Government Trade School,it is the first institution to provide technical education in Hong Kong. In 1994,the Legislative Council of Hong Kong passed a bill which granted the former Hong Kong Polytechnic official university status.

From 2014 to 2016,he was the Alex Wong/Gigi Wong Endowed Professor in Product Engineering Design at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (HPKU). Currently,he is a Fellow of European Academy of Sciences and Arts,the European Academy of Sciences. Lau has conducted research in the field of Mechanical Engineering,Aerospace Engineering and Materials Engineering. His work has been focused on aerospace composites,Unmanned aerial vehicle,product design and engineering and bio-composites. Lau is recognized as Australian National Research Leader in Composite Materials 2019,published by The Australian Post. Within the period 2020-2022,he was Director of Oceania Cybersecurity Centre Limited and Stawell Underground Physics Laboratory Company.
Teng Jin-guang is a Chinese scientist and educator,currently serving as the president of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University since July 1,2019. Previously he served as the vice-president of Southern University of Science and Technology.
Jinliu "Grace" Wang is a Chinese American engineer and academic administrator who served as interim president of the SUNY Polytechnic Institute from July 1,2018 to November 2020. She joined Ohio State University in December 2020 as executive vice president for research,innovation,and knowledge enterprise.

The PolyU Faculty of Construction and Environment is one of the faculty at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. The faculty consists of the Department of Building and Real Estate,Department of Building Services Engineering,Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering,and Department of Land Surveying and Geo-Informatics. In 2021,the faculty has around 115 full-time academic staff.
