Asian Games appearances (overview)

The Philippines participated in the 1974 Asian Games held in Tehran, Iran from September 1 to September 16, 1974. Ranked 15th with no gold medals, 2 silver medals and 11 bronze medals with a total of 13 over-all medals. [1]

Asian Games performance

No gold medal. The country's production was only a pair of silvers by swimmer Gerardo "Ral" Rosario and 11 bronzes. Rosario placed second in both the 100-meter backstroke and 200-meter backstroke to become the only notable achiever in the country's worst performance ever in Asian Games history. The country sent 98 athletes and competed in 14 sports. [2]

He also broke a world record in the short course 200-meter individual medley, and broke several South American and Brazilian records. Singapore sent a delegation to compete at the 2008 Summer Paralympics in Beijing, represented by six athletes competing in four sports: swimming, sailing, equestrian and athletics. Ricky Anggawijaya is an Indonesian swimmer from Bandung who specializes in backstroke. However, his first medal in Southeast Asian Games is a silver medal from the 5000 m open water swimming event. He also won another silver in the same discipline, this time in 10000 m distance. In 2012 Pekan Olahraga Nasional, Ricky won a gold medal in 1500 m freestyle for West Java.

The men's 200 metre backstroke event at the 2016 Summer Olympics took place on 10–11 August at the Olympic Aquatics Stadium. There were 26 competitors from 19 nations.
