The Philippines participated in the 1998 Asian Games held in Bangkok, Thailand from December 6 to December 20, 1998. Ranked 21st with one gold medal, five silver medals, and 12 bronze medals with a total of 18 over-all medals.
It was a dismal harvest compared to four years ago. Billiards and Snooker players Romeo Villanueva and Gandy Valle captured the 9-ball doubles title to give the Philippines its first taste of gold. The country's first silver was earned by reigning world cudgel champion and Jakarta SEA games double gold medalist Mark Robert Rosales in the 3-event changquan. Rolly Chulhang settled for a silver in the men's 52-kg and below finals in sanshou for Wushu's second silver medal.
The Philippine Centennial team defeated Kazakhstan, 73-68, to salvage the bronze medal in basketball.

The Philippines men's national basketball team is managed by the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas.
The 1998 Philippines men's national basketball team, nicknamed the "Philippine Centennial Team", competed in the 1998 Asian Games. The team consisted of professional players in the country that included national team veterans Allan Caidic and Alvin Patrimonio, both sharing the distinction of being the only PBA players to represent the country in four Asian Games basketball tournaments since 1986. The team nickname was a reference to the centennial celebration of the independence of the Philippines.
Taekwondo was introduced to the Philippines through the efforts of Kim Bok Man and Young Man Park. Grand Master Bok Man Kim arrived in 1970 to continue Park's legacy of propagating Taekwondo upon the invitation of President Marcos. Bok Man Kim continued to pioneer Taekwondo worldwide and left the Philippines in 1971. In 1975, Sung-Chon Hong came to the Philippines to continue to introduce Taekwondo again. The Philippine Taekwondo Association (PTA) has been established by Grand Master Sung Chon Hong. The current Central Headquarters of the PTA is at the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex. The PTA is a member of the Kukkiwon, World Taekwondo Federation, Philippine Sports Commission, Philippine Olympic Committee and Asian Taekwondo Union. Sung Chon Hong has devoted decades to mentoring, developing and promoting Taekwondo nationwide and worldwide, and is popularly considered the Father of Taekwondo in the Philippines.
The Philippines participated in the 1962 Asian Games held in Jakarta, Indonesia from August 24 to September 4, 1962. Ranked 3rd with 7 gold medals, 4 silver medals and 16 bronze medals with a total of 27 over-all medals.

Hidilyn Francisco Diaz is a Filipina weightlifter and airwoman, the first Filipino to ever win an Olympic gold medal for the Philippines. She is also an Olympic weightlifting record holder by winning the women's 55 kg category for weightlifting at the 2020 Summer Olympics.
The Philippine women's national volleyball team is the national volleyball team of the Philippines. Its highest achievement was in 1974 when it qualified for the FIVB World Championship, where it placed 18th. It is currently governed by Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF) since 2021.
Jessie Khing Lacuna is a Filipino former competitive swimmer who competed in the freestyle and butterfly events. He had, overall, won 26 Gold medals in Philippine Olympic Games and 7 in SEA Age Group Swimming Championship, he represented the country Philippines in Southeast Asian Games and Asian Games.

The Philippines is currently not ranked in the IIHF World Ranking and have never entered in any World Championship tournaments or at any Olympic Games, but have played in the Challenge Cup of Asia, a regional tournament for lower-tier hockey nations in Asia.

Carlos Edriel Yulo is a Filipino artistic gymnast who has won bronze and gold at the World Artistic Gymnastics Championships. He is the first Filipino and the first male Southeast Asian gymnast to win in the World Artistic Gymnastics Championships with his floor exercise bronze medal finish in 2018, and the first ever gold medal for the Philippines in 2019 on the same apparatus. This performance also qualified him to the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo.
