Suffocation is an American death metal band formed in 1988 in Centereach, New York, currently consisting of lead guitarist Terrance Hobbs, bassist Derek Boyer, rhythm guitarist Charlie Errigo, drummer Eric Morotti, and vocalist Ricky Myers. The band rose to prominence with their 1991 debut album Effigy of the Forgotten, which became a blueprint for death metal in the 1990s. Since then, Suffocation has recorded seven albums. These feature growled vocals with downtuned guitars, fast and complex guitar riffs and drumming, open chord notes and occasional breakdowns.
David Lombardo is a Cuban-American drummer, best known as a co-founding member of American thrash metal band Slayer. He currently plays drums with Fantômas, Dead Cross, Mr. Bungle, Empire State Bastard, and Misfits.
Souls to Deny is the fourth studio album by the death metal band Suffocation marking the end of a six-year hiatus. This is the first album featuring former guitarist Guy Marchais and marks the return of original drummer, Mike Smith. They did not have a bassist during the recording; bass guitar tracks on the album are played by guitarist Terrance Hobbs and drummer Mike Smith. The cover artwork is by artist Dan Seagrave.
Mainliner: Wreckage from the Past is a collection of early recordings by Social Distortion. It was released on July 18, 1995, and contains songs which were recorded in 1981. It is a collection of singles and B-sides that had never appeared on any of the band's full-length albums. This album was released by Mike Ness' Time Bomb Recordings in 1995 along with the re-release of Mommy's Little Monster and Prison Bound.
Pierced from Within is the third album by the death metal band Suffocation, released in 1995. "Synthetically Revived" is a re-recording of the song of the same name from the Human Waste EP and "Breeding the Spawn" is a re-recording of the title track from the band's previous album.
Francis P. Mull Eugene Mullen is an American vocalist, best known as the former frontman for the New York technical death metal band Suffocation. He is one of the first vocalists to introduce low-pitched growling vocals into the death metal genre. He performed and recorded with the band from 1989 to 2018.
Effigy of the Forgotten is the debut full-length album by New York–based death metal band Suffocation, released in 1991. The cover artwork was created by Dan Seagrave. Several of the tracks had appeared on earlier releases: "Reincremation" and "Involuntary Slaughter" were re-recorded from the Reincremation demo, while "Infecting the Crypts", "Mass Obliteration", and "Jesus Wept" appeared originally on the Human Waste EP.
Malevolent Creation is an American death metal band formed in Buffalo, New York in 1987 and later based in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The band's original members were rhythm guitarist Phil Fasciana, vocalist Bret Hoffmann, lead guitarist Jim Nickles, bassist Jason Blachowicz and drummer Dennis Kubas. Fasciana is the only founding member who stayed with the band consistently.
Breeding the Spawn is the second full-length album by Suffocation. Though it still employs the characteristics and elements associated with Suffocation's song writing, the production on the album is much thinner than on other albums, due to financial problems regarding their label Roadrunner Records. However it shows a more complex and technical side of the band. Most likely to make up for the relatively poor production on the album, tracks from Breeding the Spawn were re-recorded for inclusion on six Suffocation albums to date: "Breeding the Spawn" on Pierced from Within; "Prelude to Repulsion" and "Anomalistic Offerings" on Suffocation ; "Marital Decimation" on Blood Oath; "Beginning of Sorrow" on Pinnacle of Bedlam; "Epitaph of the Credulous" on ...Of the Dark Light; and "Ignorant Deprivation" on Hymns from the Apocrypha.
Despise the Sun is an EP released in 1998 by the death metal band Suffocation. It was the last recording before Suffocation's breakup, and the last to feature guitarist Doug Cerrito and bassist Chris Richards. Like the albums Effigy of the Forgotten and Pierced from Within, it was produced by Scott Burns, although it would also prove to be their last album recorded with Burns, as by the time they had reformed he had retired from the music industry.
Human Waste is the debut EP by death metal band Suffocation. It was released in May 1991 through Relapse Records, and was also the first ever CD to be released by Relapse. "Infecting The Crypts", "Mass Obliteration", and "Jesus Wept" were re-recorded on the following album, Effigy of the Forgotten. "Synthetically Revived" was also re-recorded on Pierced from Within and "Catatonia" was re-recorded for the Despise the Sun EP. The only track that has not been re-recorded is the title track, which was originally recorded for the demo Reincremated.

Terrance Hobbs is an American musician and the lead guitarist of the death metal band Suffocation. He has been a constant member in the band since their first released title Reincremated along with bandmates Frank Mullen and Mike Smith, who all met in high school. Hobbs also played in the deathgrind project Criminal Element, which featured fellow Suffocation member Derek Boyer.
Deeds of Flesh is an American brutal death metal band from Los Osos, California, U.S. They were formed in 1993 by Jacoby Kingston, Erik Lindmark (1972–2018) and Joey Heaslet. They founded their own label, Unique Leader Records, which has since become home to a number of other death metal bands from around the world. Deeds of Flesh have released nine studio albums, their most recent being Nucleus which was released in 2020.
No More Mr. Nice Guy is an instrumental album released in 1996 by American country music artist Steve Wariner. His final album for Arista Records, it comprises twelve instrumental tracks. No singles were released from it, although "The Brickyard Boogie" was nominated for Best Country Instrumental at the Grammy Awards of 1997. This song features former Pearl River member Derek George, former Boy Howdy member Jeffrey Steele, as well as Bryan White and Bryan Austin. It is the band's first album to feature guitarist Charlie Errigo and drummer Eric Morotti, and their final album to feature original vocalist Frank Mullen. At 35 minutes and 17 seconds, this is the shortest Suffocation album.
Hymns from the Apocrypha is the ninth studio album by American death metal band Suffocation, released on November 3, 2023, via Nuclear Blast. It is the band's first album to feature vocalist Ricky Myers, who is also the drummer for death metal band Disgorge.
