Piper, Missouri

Piper is an unincorporated community in Henry County, in the U.S. state of Missouri. [1] The community is on Missouri Route K and the northeast side of Granddaddy Creek. Clinton is approximately 12 miles to the east and Montrose Lake and the Montrose Conservation Area is two miles to the southeast on the Deepwater River. [2]

History

Piper was originally called Como, and under the latter name was laid out ca. 1880. [3] A post office called Piper was established in 1895, and remained in operation until 1903. [4] The present name honors Bob Piper, an original owner of the site. [3]

The county was organized December 13, 1834 as Rives County but was renamed in 1841 for Revolutionary War patriot Patrick Henry. Butler lies 13 miles to the west-southwest. North Deepwater Creek flows past the southwest side of the community.

Hudson is an unincorporated community in eastern Bates County, in the U.S. state of Missouri. The community is on a county road just north of Missouri Route 52. The southwest corner of Henry County is one mile to the northeast of the community. Butler is approximately 13 miles to the west-northwest.

Worland is an unincorporated community in western Bates County, in the U.S. state of Missouri. The community is on Missouri Route U one mile from the Missouri-Kansas border. Butler is 14 miles to the northeast.

Daugherty is an populated place in central Cass County, in the U.S. state of Missouri. The community is on Missouri Route 7 five miles southeast of Harrisonville and approximately 5.5 miles northwest of Garden City. The site is at an elevation of 892 feet and just west of Eight Mile Creek.

Dayton is an unincorporated community in southeast Cass County, in the U.S. state of Missouri. Garden City is five miles north along Missouri Route F and Creighton lies 6.5 miles east along Missouri Route B. The Settles Ford Conservation Area along the South Grand River lies to the southeast. The community lies atop a ridge between Sugar Creek to the west and Lick Branch to the east. It is part of the Kansas City metropolitan area.

Bear Creek is a stream in Henry County in the U.S. state of Missouri. It is a tributary of Deepwater Creek.

Bowen is an unincorporated community in Henry and Johnson counties, in the U.S. state of Missouri.

Finey is an unincorporated community in southeastern Henry County, in the U.S. state of Missouri. The community is on Missouri Route Z just over one mile from the Henry-Benton county line. The Osage arm of the Truman Reservoir and the Henry-St Clair county line is approximately one mile to the south. The Grand River arm of the reservoir is about two miles to the north of the community.
