Pitch Black Progress is the second studio album by Swedish melodic death metal band Scar Symmetry. The album was released in Europe on 21 April 2006 and in North America on 2 May 2006 through Nuclear Blast.
The album's artwork and layout was created by Anthony Clarkson. Allmusic praised the album's "uncompromisingly extreme hard-soft dynamics and accompanying, remarkably accessible sing-and-grunt-along choruses". [1]
The track "The Illusionist" was promoted with two different music videos; [2] the second version used as the official video by releasing label Nuclear Blast. [3] The original version is available at the band's own YouTube site. [4]

Meshuggah is a Swedish extreme metal band formed in Umeå in 1987. The band's current lineup consists of lead vocalist Jens Kidman, guitarists Fredrik Thordendal and Mårten Hagström, drummer Tomas Haake and bassist Dick Lövgren. Stormtroopers of Death was an American crossover thrash band formed in New York City in 1985. They are credited as being among the first bands to fuse hardcore punk with thrash metal into a style sometimes referred to as crossover thrash. It was released on 20 June 2008 in Europe, and on 7 July 2008 in North America. The album peaked on the charts at 37 in Finland, and 65 in Austria. A music video for the song "Morphogenesis" premiered on 18 September. The album is rumoured to be loosely based on Michael Talbot's book The Holographic Universe.
Christian Älvestam is a vocalist, lyricist, guitarist, bassist and drummer for several bands from Sweden. He is, however, best known as the former vocalist for the Swedish melodic death metal band Scar Symmetry. He currently performs with several bands, including Solution .45, Miseration, Cipher System, Svavelvinter, Ill-Wisher, Pre-Human Vaults and has made several guest appearances for other music bands. He is most known in the metal community for possessing both an extreme clean singing range and an ability to make powerful growls.
