The Pittsburgh Forge Rugby Club is a rugby union club in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States. They compete in the Allegheny Rugby Union as part of the Midwest Rugby Union.

The Pittsburgh Forge currently fields two (2) competitive men's senior sides and one (1) competitive women's side. The men currently participate in the Midwest Competition Region (NCR1) at the Division II and Division III levels, and the women also play in the Midwest Competition Region at the Division II level. In the fall, all sides play league competition on Saturdays from August through November in Western Pennsylvania, Eastern Ohio and Western New York. During the spring, competition varies between friendly test matches, social tournaments or tours and Select Side competition. In the summer months of June and July, the Club host Rugby 7's programming for area senior, collegiate and high school players.

The Pittsburgh Forge Rugby Club is officially managed by its board of directors. The board consists of a President, a Treasurer, a Secretary, a Director of Men's Rugby, a Director of Women's Rugby, and four General Directors. [1]

The current headquarters is on the west side of Vancouver.

Sports in Pittsburgh

Sports in Pittsburgh have been played dating back to the American Civil War. Baseball, hockey, and the first professional American football game had been played in the city by 1892. Pittsburgh was first known as the "City of Champions" when the Pittsburgh Pirates, Pittsburgh Panthers, and Pittsburgh Steelers won multiple championships in the 1970s. Today, the city has three major professional sports franchises, the Pirates, Steelers, and Penguins; while the University of Pittsburgh Panthers compete in a Division I BCS conference, the highest level of collegiate athletics in the United States, in both football and basketball. Local universities Duquesne and Robert Morris also field Division I teams in men's and women's basketball and Division I FCS teams in football. Robert Morris also fields Division I men's and women's ice hockey teams.

The Southern California Rugby Football Union (SCRFU), is the Geographical Union (GU) governing body within USA Rugby that governs adult rugby union teams in Southern California, the Las Vegas metropolitan area, Arizona, and New Mexico. The SCRFU includes numerous men's and women's, leagues representing all levels of competitive play. College rugby is run by the College conferences and Youth Rugby is governed by Southern California Youth Rugby (SCYR). During the busiest part of the 15s seasons, southern California will have over 80 matches in a weekend. The Allegheny area is the region described as Western Pennsylvania, Western New York, Northern West Virginia and Eastern Ohio bordering Pennsylvania in the United States of America. Wyandotte Boat Club is a non-profit organization located in Wyandotte, Michigan along the Detroit River dedicated to the promotion of the sport of rowing within the "Downriver" area of Metro Detroit. The Wyandotte Boat Club was established in 1875. The Wyandotte Boat Club is the home to 6 Local High Schools. They host two high school regattas, the Hebda Cup, held in late April and the Wyandotte High Schools Regatta or WyHi held in early May. The National Small College Rugby Organization (NSCRO) was created in 2007 by Chip Auscavitch and Steve Cohen to support and encourage the development and organization of small college rugby in the United States.

Washington & Jefferson Presidents

The Washington & Jefferson Presidents are the intercollegiate athletic teams for Washington & Jefferson College. The name "Presidents" refers to the two presidential namesakes of the college: George Washington and Thomas Jefferson. W&J is a member of the Presidents' Athletic Conference, the Eastern College Athletic Conference, and play in Division III of the National Collegiate Athletic Association in both men's and women's varsity sports. During the 2005-2006 season, 34 percent of the student body played varsity-level athletics.
