Pocket Tanks, often abbreviated as PTanks or simply as PT, is a 1-2 player computer game and mobile game developed by Michael P. Welch from Blitwise Productions. It was originally released for Windows and Mac OS X in 2001 and was later released for iOS in 2009 and Android in 2012. It is available as shareware as well as a premium version known as Pocket Tanks Deluxe, which includes the content from all 30 expansion packs.
Pocket Tanks was adapted from Welch's earlier Amiga game Scorched Tanks.Pocket Tanks features modified physics and additional weapons ranging from simple explosive shells to homing missiles. The game also allows players to move the tank.
The goal of Pocket Tanks is to use various weapons to attack the other player's tank. Each hit scores a certain number of points, which varies based on the weapon and the proximity of the target. At the end of 10 volleys, the player with the highest score wins.
Pocket Tanks features a fully destructible environment, which allows the player to create and put themselves on pedestals or in bunkers, allowing for more strategic gameplay. Pocket Tanks also supports weapon expansion packs where each player can have up to 325 different weapons in total.
Network play was made available in the version 1.3 release.
The game features extra game content in the form of expansion "weapon packs" which give the player more weapon choices during gameplay, available to those who own Pocket Tanks Deluxe. In the PC version, there are 30 Expansion Packs available to download. All packs that include 5 weapons are available for free, and 15 weapons that have to be paid for (mobile versions only). There are 325 weapons in total: 30 from the original game and 295 from the Deluxe Version.
Michael P. Welch from Blitwise Productions created Amiga games before he started developing PC games such as Super DX-Ball and Neon Wars . Welch developed Pocket Tanks as remake/sequel of the Amiga game Scorched Tanks and extended the gameplay with modified physics, dozens of new weapons (hundreds with a paid expansion), and the ability to move the tank. The game's soundtrack was created by Eliran Ben Ishai as Impulse Tracker Module file. [1] The first version of Pocket Tanks was released in 2001.
On October 26, 2001, the first version of Pocket Tanks was released after a beta. This version continued to be updated, adding features such as network support and more weapons.
Version 1.3 was released in November 2007. It contained bug fixes as well as LAN and IP support.
A Collector's Edition of Pocket Tanks was released on November 16, 2007. It contained the first 14 expansion packs and the Deluxe version of Pocket Tanks.
On June 1, 2008, Pocket Tanks became available for Mac OS X.
On April 15, 2009, Pocket Tanks was released on iOS. This version included a new touch interface and 35 weapons to enjoy for free. The iOS version continues to be updated along with other mobile versions that were released later.
On December 7, 2012, Pocket Tanks became available on Android. [2]
On January 9, 2013, Pocket Tanks was released on the Windows Store for devices running Windows 8 and Windows RT. [3]
On March 7, 2013, Pocket Tanks was released on the Amazon Appstore. [4]
Version 2.1 added support for the latest weapon packs and fixed bugs that prevented it from being playable on the Surface Pro. [5]
Version 2.3 brought "online functions from a third-party Backend as a Service supported framework to a Blitwise maintained AWS hosted server infrastructure." [6]
Version 2.7.2 is currently the latest release of the game as of July 2022 and is available for the iOS, Android, and Windows Store versions of the game. Pocket Tanks and Pocket Tanks Deluxe is currently available on Windows, MacOS, iOS, Android, Amazon Appstore, and Windows Store. The original PC versions of the game lack some of the features of the mobile and Windows Store version.
As of 2022, there are 325 weapons to collect on the desktop version, which can be obtained by purchasing all of the expansion packs. This version is available for MacOS and the Windows Desktop. The mobile version is expanded to 375 weapons.
The game is still being updated as of 2023.

Zenonia 3: The Midgard Story is an action role-playing game created, developed, and published by Gamevil for Android and iOS. Serious Sam: Kamikaze Attack! is a 2011 auto-running game developed by Be-Rad Entertainment and published by Devolver Digital. The player controls a Headless Kamikaze that chases after Sam "Serious" Stone, attempting to defeat him. The character moves automatically and can dodge or deflect incoming hazards. Announced in March 2011 and developed over six months, Kamikaze Attack! was created as part of the Serious Sam Indie Series to promote the launch of Serious Sam 3: BFE. It debuted for Android and iOS in September 2011, followed by a release for Windows in January 2012. The game received a mixed reception, with praise for its controls, conflicting opinions about its visuals, and criticism for its repetitiveness and lack of appeal to non-fans of the Serious Sam series.
Hero Academy was a two-player turn-based tactics video game created by the developer Robot Entertainment, known for their previous series Orcs Must Die!. The game was first released for the iPhone iOS platform on January 11, 2012, with ports later being released for the Microsoft Windows, OS X and Android platforms. In the game, players take turns moving units on a board and attacking enemy units with the objective of being the first to destroy the other player's crystal or eliminate all of the other player's units. The game received generally favorable reviews from critics. In his review for Ars Technica, Andrew Webster noted that the gameplay was simple and easy to learn, but that the game also offered a satisfying depth within each turn. The game also features cross platform play across all installed platforms. A sequel to the game was launched in January 2018. On January 9, 2019, Robot Entertainment announced in a blog post that Hero Academy and its sequel would cease operations on April 8, 2019 as one had been long defunct and its sequel had been operating at a financial loss for several months.
Stealth Bastard: Tactical Espionage Arsehole is a 2D platform video game developed by Curve Studios and published by Curve Digital. Its mechanics revolve around stealth, and the gameplay has been likened to that of Metal Gear Solid and Super Meat Boy. The player controls a goggle-wearing clone who must make his way through a testing facility filled with hazards and robot sentries by staying in the shadows, risking instant death if he is spotted by an enemy. The game was released on 4 November 2011 as Stealth Bastard as a free download for Microsoft Windows. An expanded version, Stealth Bastard Deluxe, was released for Windows via Steam the following November. It subsequently became available for OS X and Linux in April 2013 along with The Teleporter Chambers downloadable content released the previous month. In June 2013, it was released for Android as part of the Humble Bundle with Android 6, including DRM-free versions for Windows, Mac OS and Linux and its soundtrack. Versions for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita were also released in July 2013 under the name Stealth Inc: A Clone in the Dark. Curve have also announced plans to release the game for iPad and iPhone. In February 2014 a PlayStation 4 version of the game titled the Ultimate Edition was announced. It contains two DLC expansions The Teleporter Chambers and The Lost Clones and was released in March 2014. On 1 May 2014, a sequel, Stealth Inc 2: A Game of Clones, was announced for the Wii U. It was released on 30 October 2014. The Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, and Xbox One version was also announced. The sequel, Stealth Inc. 2, was released in April 2015 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.
