Poets Corner Group is a poetry group in India. [1] [2] [3] The group's main purpose is to make it easier for new and aspiring poets to be published. Since its advent, Poets Corner has published over 340 poets in 21 anthologies in both English and Hindi language. [4]

Contents

The Poets Corner Group also hosts online competitions, poetry reading events, panel discussion, book launches, workshops, and other activities. [2] [5]

History

Poets Corner was co-founded by Yaseen Anwer and Dolly Singh. [6] [7]

Delhi Poetry Festival is an annual poetry event organized by Poets Corner in Delhi, first held on 19 January 2013. [8] [9] [10] [11] [12]

The Dadasaheb Phalke Award is India's highest award in the field of cinema. It is presented annually at the National Film Awards ceremony by the Directorate of Film Festivals, an organisation set up by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. The recipient is honoured for their "outstanding contribution to the growth and development of Indian cinema" and is selected by a committee consisting of eminent personalities from the Indian film industry. Gulzar is an Indian Urdu poet, lyricist, author, screenwriter, and film director known for his works in Hindi cinema. He is regarded as one of greatest Urdu poets of this era. He started his career with music director S.D. Burman as a lyricist in the 1963 film Bandini and worked with many music directors including R. D. Burman, Salil Chowdhury, Vishal Bhardwaj and A. R. Rahman. Gulzar also writes poetry, dialogues and scripts. He directed films such as Aandhi and Mausam during the 1970s and the TV series Mirza Ghalib in the 1980s. He also directed Kirdaar in 1993.

Sandeep Nath is Singer, Lyricist, Composer, Screenwriter, Director and Producer in Bollywood.His Sufi songs "Rangrez", "Ishq Niralaaa" are full of philosophy, spirituality, pure love and positivity. He started his literary career as a poet and singer at the age of eighteen. He has completed more than two books as namely "Mujhko Kuch Bhi Naam Doh", "Darpan Ab Bhi Andha Hai". His poetries have been selected in "Kabita Parabasey" an anthology of Bengali poems written by the poets from outside Bengal and published by Bangiya Maitri Samiti Mumbai. He is closely associated with India's fastest growing poetry group "Poets Corner Group" & "Delhi Poetry Festival". One of his poem was featured in Musings : A Mosaic. In his Indian film career he has written lyrics for more than seventy well known Bollywood films, he is most known for his work in films like 'Madhur Bhandarkar's Page 3 (2005), Corporate (2006), Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Saawariya (2007), Tigmanshu Dhulia's Paan Singh Tomar (film) (2012) and Bullet Raja, Mohit Suri's Aashiqui 2 (2013) and Rohit Shetty's Singham Returns (2014), Bhushan Patel's ALONE (2015), Vikramjit Singh's Roy (2015), Deepak Tijori's Do lafzon ki kahani (2016), Tigmanshu Dhulia's Raag Desh (2017) & Saheb, Biwi Aur Gangster 3 (2018), and Bhushan Patel's Amavas (2019).

Shilpi Marwaha is an actor in the Delhi Theatre Circuit who first performed in 2008. She was a street theatre activist during the "anti corruption movement" in Delhi and the protests held at Rastrapati Bhawan, where she raised her voice against the 2012 Delhi gang rape and murder known as the "Nirbhaya" or "Damini" case. She has also worked in mainstream cinema in the Bollywood film, Raanjhanaa as Rashmi, Abhay Deol's sister, directed by Anand L. Rai in 2013, Bhoomiyude Avakashikal, directed by T. V. Chandran, "Widow of Silence" as Aasiya directed by Praveen Morchhale in 2018 and "Chhapaak" directed by Meghna Gulzar in 2020. Arun Gemini is an Indian writer, poet and satirist and TV personality from Haryana, India. He was awarded Kaka Hathrasi Award for outstanding contribution in the literary field by the Hindi Academy, Government of Delhi in 2000. Arun Gemini was honored with Haryana Gaurav Samman (Award) by the Haryana Sahitya Akadami, Government of Haryana in July 2014.

Sonroopa Vishal is Indian writer, poet and author, who writes in the Hindi language. The State Government of Uttar Pradesh awarded her with the Harivansh Rai Bachchan Navodit Geetkaar Award in 2015 and Jagadish Gupta Sarjana Award in 2019. Sonroopa Vishal has published three books, including Likhna Zaruri Hai (2014) and America Aur 45 Din (2018), and co-authored several books.

<i>In the Company of a Poet</i> Book by Nasreen Munni Kabir

In the Company of a Poet is a 2012 book by the author and television documentary producer Nasreen Munni Kabir, containing her interview with Gulzar. It details his early life, including his birth in 1934 in Dina, British India, and his Sikh family background, his film and poetic career, and his marriage to the actress Rakhee in 1973, with whom he has a daughter, Meghna. In the Company of a Poet was published by Rupa Publications on 12 November 2012 and received mixed reviews from critics. Firstpost included the book in its listing of Top 10 in Indian Non-fiction Books.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Aalok Shrivastav</span> Indian Poet, Lyricist & Journalist

Aalok Shrivastav is an Indian poet, lyricist and journalist. His critically acclaimed works include Aameen (2007), a poetry collection and Afreen (2012), a story collection, both published by Rajkamal Prakashan. Aalok's works have won a number of accolades for his works, including the International Pushkin Award and Dushyant Kumar Award by Madhya Pradesh Sahitya Akademi.

Suryamal Mishran Shikhar Award is a literary honour granted by the Rajasthani Bhasha Sahitya and Sanskriti Akademi for special contribution to Rajasthani literature. It was established in the memory of the 19th century poet-historian Suryamal Misran.

Thakur Zorawar Singh Barhath was an Indian revolutionary and independence activist. He is known for the assassination attempt on the Viceroy of India, Lord Hardinge, by throwing a bomb at him during a procession in New Delhi.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Vidya Vindu Singh</span> Indian author

Vidya Vindu Singh is an Indian author in Hindi and Awadhi languages. She is best known for her broad work in folk and children's literature. Singh has been awarded Padma Shri in 2022 by the Government of India for her contributions in the field of literature & education.

Chetavani ra Chungatya is a patriotic Dingal poem composed by Thakur Kesari Singh Barhath in 1903 and addressed to Maharana of Mewar, Fateh Singh, exhorting him to uphold the traditions of his lineage and to not attend the Delhi Durbar. The couplets had the desired effect on the Maharana who decided not to attend the durbar despite being present in Delhi. The work remains one of the great literary works produced during the freedom struggle. It consists of 13 stanzas or sortha (saurashtra-duha).
