"Point #1" is the second and final single from American rock band Chevelle's debut album of the same name. Not much is known about this single, as very little copies were sold.
"Point #1" originally started as "Open" on "The Basement Tapes" in 1996, [1] it was combined with what is known on the final "Point #1" record as "Open" and was 6:53 long. Sometime in-between this demo and the final "Point #1" record in 1999, the later 4 minutes and 52 seconds was removed from the song, those 4:52 of the song would become "Point #1". The song had also become shorter, now being 4:39 on its own, and 6:20 with "Open".
"Point #1" became a single for promotional use only in 2000, a music video for "Point #1" was also aired on MTV during 2000. [2] The music video also briefly shows the music video for "Mia" on a TV at the 1:06 mark.
"Open/Point #1" would appear on the Best Buy version of Chevelle's compilation album "Stray Arrows: A Collection Of Favorites" in 2012.
"Point #1" won GMA's Hard Music Dove Award in 2001, [3] with "Mia" and the entire "Point #1" album winning the year prior. [4]
