Pool Kids are an American math rock emo band from Tallahassee, Florida. The band's line-up consists of lead vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Christine Goodwyne, drummer Caden Clinton, guitarist Andy Anaya, and bassist Nicolette Alvarez. [1] The band has released two studio albums, Music To Practice Safe Sex To (2018) and Pool Kids (2022).

History

Pool Kids formed in 2017 [2] The following year, they released their debut studio album, Music to Practice Safe Sex to on July 13. The album went largely unnoticed until Paramore frontwoman Hayley Williams posted an Instagram Story about the album, leading to the band receiving widespread recognition. [3] [4]

On February 5, 2020, Pool Kids released a music video for $5 Subtweet. [5] On February 20, the band went on tour with The Wonder Years, but were forced abruptly to end the tour on March 13 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. [5] [6]

On May 24, 2022, Pool Kids released the single "That's Physics, Baby", [7] [8] and announced their second studio album, the self-titled Pool Kids, which released on July 22, 2022. [6]

On April 7, 2023, Pool Kids' self-titled album was released in Europe via Big Scary Monsters. Pool Kids supported La Dispute on their Spring 2023 Europe tour, in addition to their own headlining tour dates in the UK. [9]

On July 9, 2023, Pool Kids played their first sold out show at X-Ray Arcade in Cudahy, Wisconsin.

Riot! is the second studio album by the American rock band Paramore. It was released in the United States on June 12, 2007 through Fueled by Ramen as a follow-up to the band's debut album, All We Know Is Falling (2005). The album was produced by David Bendeth and written primarily by band members Hayley Williams and Josh Farro, with Bendeth. The album explores a "diverse range of styles," while not straying far from the "signature sound" of their debut album, with several critics comparing it to the music of Kelly Clarkson and Avril Lavigne. "Misery Business" is a song by American rock band Paramore from their second studio album, Riot! (2007) and serves as the lead single from the album. The song was written about a past experience of the band's lead singer, Hayley Williams, which involved a male friend who she felt was being exploited by a girl; when Williams and her friend dated afterwards, she wrote the track in order to "finally explain my side of the story and feel freed of it all". Emo pop is a fusion genre combining emo with pop-punk, pop music, or both. Emo pop features a musical style with more concise composition and hook-filled choruses. Emo pop has its origins in the 1990s with bands like Jimmy Eat World, the Get Up Kids, Weezer and the Promise Ring. The genre entered the mainstream in the early 2000s with Jimmy Eat World's breakthrough album Bleed American, which included its song "The Middle". Other emo pop bands that achieved mainstream success throughout the decade included Fall Out Boy, the All-American Rejects, My Chemical Romance, Panic! at the Disco and Paramore. The popularity of emo pop declined in the 2010s, with some prominent artists in the genre either disbanding or abandoning the emo pop style.

The emo revival, or fourth wave emo, was an underground emo movement which began in the late 2000s and flourished until the mid-to-late 2010s. The movement began towards the end of the 2000s third-wave emo, with Pennsylvania-based groups such as Tigers Jaw, Algernon Cadwallader and Snowing eschewing that era's mainstream sensibilities in favor of influence from 1990s Midwest emo. Acts like Touché Amoré, La Dispute and Defeater drew from 1990s emo and especially its heavier counterparts, such as screamo and post-hardcore.

It is the band's first album since the return of drummer Zac Farro and the departure of former bassist Jeremy Davis. Origami Angel is an American rock band from Washington D.C., consisting of singer and guitarist Ryland Heagy and drummer Pat Doherty. The duo formed the band in 2016 after the demise of a common prior band, and released a series of EPs leading up to their debut studio album, Somewhere City in 2019. The COVID-19 pandemic limited the ability to tour in support of the album, so they instead focused on recording material written during the prior sessions to release their second studio album, Gami Gang in 2021, and wrote and recorded further material for a series of smaller releases, including a mixtape, The Brightest Days, released in 2023. A third studio album, Feeling Not Found, is scheduled for release on September 27, 2024.

Elke, Bloc Party, Rozi Plain, Foals, The Linda Lindas, Genesis Owusu and Claud served as supporting acts on the tour. It concluded on November 30, 2023.
