Poovanam is a village in the Pattukkottai taluk of Thanjavur district, Tamil Nadu, India, in the southern part of the district in the Cauvery delta.
Poovanam is located at 10°13′N79°10′E / 10.21°N 79.16°E [1] in the Cauvery delta on the southeast coast of India in east-central Tamil Nadu, 12 kilometers from Pattukkottai and 60 kilometers from Thanjavur.[ citation needed ]
As per the 2001 census, Poovanam had a total population of 1582 with 761 males and 821 females. The sex ratio was 1079. The literacy rate was 63.31.
Kumbakonam, or Kudanthai, is a city municipal corporation in the Thanjavur district in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It is located 40 km (25 mi) from Thanjavur and 282 km (175 mi) from Chennai and is the headquarters of the Kumbakonam taluk of Thanjavur district. It is the second largest city in the district after Thanjavur. The city is bounded by two rivers, the Kaveri River to the north and Arasalar River to the south.
