Northern Mindanao is an administrative region in the Philippines, designated as Region X. It comprises five provinces: Bukidnon, Camiguin, Misamis Occidental, Misamis Oriental, and Lanao del Norte, and two cities classified as highly urbanized, all occupying the north-central part of Mindanao island, and the island-province of Camiguin. The regional center is Cagayan de Oro. Lanao del Norte was transferred to Northern Mindanao from Region XII by virtue of Executive Order No. 36 in September 2001.

Labo Airport, also known as Ozamiz Airport, is an airport serving the general area of the city of Ozamiz in the Philippines. It is the only airport in the province of Misamis Occidental. The airport is classified as a community airport by the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines, a body of the Department of Transportation that is responsible for the operations of not only this airport but also of all other airports in the Philippines except the major international airports. It is one of only two community airports in the Philippines with commercial operations, but one of the busiest in Mindanao in terms of aircraft movement and passenger traffic.
Mount Malindang is a complex volcano located in the province of Misamis Occidental in the southern island of Mindanao, Philippines. It is the highest point in the province. The least studied mountain range was formed through several volcanic activities some of which could be historical, evident by the presence of two calderas, surrounded by high rock walls, cinder cones, dome volcano plugs, two sulfurous hot springs, and a crater lake named Lake Duminagat. The amphitheater structures have extensive distribution of volcanic rocks, carbonized wood that are found in pyroclastic deposits. The mountain range is dissected by several canyons and ravines.

Don Anselmo Bernad Avenue, commonly referred to by its acronym DABA, is a major road in Ozamiz, Misamis Occidental. Several banks and commercial establishments were located, making this avenue as one of the busiest roads in Ozamiz. It is part of Ozamiz–Oroquieta Road, which intersects with Ozamiz–Pagadian Road. Named after Don Anselmo Bernad, former mayor of Misamis town and former governor of Misamis Occidental. Formerly known as the Don Mariano Marcos Avenue.
Port Management Office Misamis Occidental/Ozamiz is one of the port management offices of the Philippine Ports Authority which oversees all government and private ports in the Province of Misamis Occidental, with the code MOZ.
Misamis Occidental's 1st congressional district is one of the two congressional districts of the Philippines in the province of Misamis Occidental. It has been represented in the House of Representatives since 1987. The district encompasses the northern half of the province consisting of its capital, Oroquieta, and the municipalities of Aloran, Baliangao, Calamba, Concepcion, Jimenez, Lopez Jaena, Panaon, Plaridel and Sapang Dalaga. It is currently represented in the 19th Congress by Jason P. Almonte of the PDP–Laban.
