Portsmouth High School is a public high school located in Portsmouth, New Hampshire with a current enrollment of approximately 1,100. Accredited by the New England Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools and the State of New Hampshire, the school serves the communities of Portsmouth, Rye, Greenland, New Castle and Newington, New Hampshire. Portsmouth High School's faculty consists of 42 men and 70 women, 73% of whom hold a Master's degree or higher.[ citation needed ] Key faculty includes Principal Stephen Chinosi, Assistant Principal Shawn C. Donovan, Assistant Principal Charles Grossman. [3] [4] In addition, several other notable faculty members work in and around the school. Many have become involved in the community. Due to this involvement, Portsmouth High has a very positive relationship with the city and greater seacoast region.
Classes at Portsmouth High School run for 80 minutes, with a new 43 minute FLEX block at the end of the day. There are four blocks (classes) in a day. Each 1-credit course meets for 90 days. The average class has 20 students. Students must complete 4 credits of English, 3 credits each of Math and Science, 2 1/2 credits of Social Studies, 1/2 credit of Fine Arts, Health, Economics, and a Computer course, and 1 credit of Physical Education. Portsmouth High School offers 192 courses within 18 departments with a variety of academic levels of difficulty.
26 Credits are required to graduate from Portsmouth High School. Credits are earned by the quarter. A semester is two consecutive quarters. Therefore, for a semester long course, the student will receive one full credit for passing both quarters or half credit for passing one quarter. Credits are posted at the end of each quarter. Report cards are issued after each term (four times during the year). [3]
Admission to Honors and A.P. classes is based on student application and recommendation.
Portsmouth High School offers Honors classes in English 9, 10 and 11, American Studies 1, Algebra 2 and 3, Pre-calculus, Biology, Chemistry, Ecology, Earth Science and Physical Science. Advanced Placement courses are offered in English Literature and Composition, European History, United States History, Calculus AB/BC, Biology, Physics B, Statistics, Spanish Language, and French Language. In 2000 the Portsmouth City Council voted and approved $36 million in city and state funds to renovate the aging school. In 2004 it was completed. The renovation offers students a new library, renovated auditorium, all new classrooms and science labs, a 100-seat lecture hall (called the Little Theatre), a renovated band and chorus area and many other notable features. Stevens High School is the only public high school in Claremont, New Hampshire, United States. It is in the center of the city on the corner of Broad and Summer streets. It was founded in 1868, the result of a $20,000 donation by Paran Stevens to Claremont with the proviso that the city appropriate a like sum. In the early 1990s, the school gained status as the host to one of the earlier Apple Macintosh user groups, primarily attended by high school faculty. Stevens High School is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges as well as the State of New Hampshire Department of Education.
Algonquin Regional High School is a public high school located in Northborough, Massachusetts, United States. The school serves the students of the Northborough-Southborough Regional School District (NSRSD) comprising both Northborough and neighboring Southborough. The school's mascot as of February 11, 2022, is currently undecided, though the schools teams have a new name "The Titans". The former mascot was the Tomahawk, known by many as the "T-Hawk." On April 28, 2021, the Northborough-Southborough Regional School Committee voted, 9-0, to retire the Tomahawk as its mascot. A study group was assembled to determine a new mascot, which was voted on by the student body at that time. The school's colors are maroon and gold. Algonquin Regional's Superintendent is Greg Martineau and its Principal is Sean Bevan.
Lake Forest High School, or LFHS, is a public four-year high school located in Lake Forest, Illinois, a North Shore suburb of Chicago, Illinois, in the United States. It is the only school of Lake Forest Community High School District 115, which serves the communities of Lake Forest, Lake Bluff, Knollwood, and smaller parts of Mettawa and North Chicago. It is fed by Lake Bluff Middle School, Lake Forest Country Day School, Saint Mary's, and Deer Path Middle School.
Tottenville High School is located at 100 Luten Avenue, in Huguenot, Staten Island, New York. Tottenville H.S. is in Administrative District 31, and is operated by the New York City Department of Education. The school's principal is Gina Battista, who assumed the role in 2020.
Hanover High School is the only public high school in the Dresden School District, and is located in Hanover, New Hampshire, United States. In 1963 it became the first interstate high school in the country as part of a bill that was the last signed into action by John F. Kennedy. Today it accepts students from several communities in New Hampshire and Vermont. Enrollment is approximately 786 students, the majority of whom come from the towns of Hanover and Norwich, Vermont. 11% of the student body attends on a tuition basis from towns such as Cornish and Lyme, New Hampshire, and Strafford and Hartland, Vermont. Souhegan Cooperative High School is a Coalition of Essential Schools high school located in Amherst, New Hampshire, in the United States. Students from Amherst and Mont Vernon attend Souhegan for 9th through 12th grades. There are about 750 students. The school was founded based on the work of Theodore R. Sizer, a former dean of the Harvard Graduate School of Education, a notable American education reform leader and the father of the Essential Schools movement. Notably, Souhegan's progressive reputation has been chronicled in the book Standards of Mind and Heart: Creating the Good High School by Tony Wagner, Peggy Silvia and Dr. Robert A. Mackin. Based on this history, the school was founded with the mission "Souhegan High School aspires to be a community of learners born of respect, trust and courage." The school name is derived from its proximity to the Souhegan River, which adjoins the school property. The word Souhegan comes from the Algonquin language, meaning "waiting and watching place".
Liverpool High School (LHS) is a comprehensive public high school in Liverpool, New York, northwest of Syracuse in the Liverpool Central School District, serving ninth to twelfth grade students. It is the only high school in the district. LHS generally accepts students graduating from Liverpool Middle School, Soule Road Middle School, Chestnut Hill Middle School, and Morgan Road Middle School. The school is governed under the authority of the New York State Education Department, whose standardized examinations are designed and administered by the Board of Regents of the University of the State of New York.

The two schools share an 810-seat theatre, a 2000-seat gymnasium, a FieldTurf football field and a synthetic 400-meter track. The approximate cost for constructing this facility in combination with Lurgio was $50 million.
