Powers (stylized in all caps) is a musical duo composed of Mike Del Rio and Crista Ru.

Contents

Their music has been described as alternative pop, [2] [3] electropop, [4] [5] and progressive pop. [6] Time has called their music "groovy and futuristic". [7]

Music

"Gimme Some" was the duo's first official release. [8] Other songs in their discography include "Dance", "Heavy", "Man on the Moon", "Closer", "Just Kids", and "Georgie". [9] [10] The music video for "Closer" was released in May 2017. [11]

The duo's debut studio album, Alpha, was set to release on April 7, 2017. [12] [13] However, this release did not occur, as an article in Nylon from later that year wrote about the duo's track "Georgie" being set to appear on their "upcoming debut album". [10]

They followed this release with the albums Acoustic Hearts of Winter (2006) and Insomniatic (2007). "Gimme Shelter" is a song by the English rock band the Rolling Stones. Written by Jagger–Richards, it is the opening track of the band's 1969 album Let It Bleed. The song covers the brutal realities of war, including murder, rape and fear. It features prominent guest vocals by American singer Merry Clayton.

The duo began their career as remixers in the city of New York, United States, eventually signing to their first ever major record label. Their 2010 single "Dancing With The DJ" was their first instant online success. Philadelphia hiphop band Chiddy Bang sampled The Knocks' "Blackout" for their single "Here We Go" from their EP The Preview. Chiddy Bang subsequently sampled The Knocks' "When You've Got Music" and "Dancing with the DJ" for their mixtape Peanut Butter and Swelly. Hibou is an American dream pop/shoegaze band based in Seattle, Washington, formed in 2013. The band consists solely of Peter Michel, who formerly toured as the drummer for Craft Spells. The band released its debut EP Dunes in 2013. Subsequently, Hibou released an eponymously titled debut album in the fall of 2015. He is said to have recorded much of the album in his bedroom and walk-in closet located in his parents’ home in Seattle. Hibou's sound is inspired by Michel's love of soda, summer, 1980s music, and Discovery Park.
