Poynor is an unincorporated community in southern Ripley County, Missouri, United States. [1] It is located on Route 21, approximately seven miles southwest of Doniphan. It lies about 1.5 miles north of the Missouri-Arkansas border. [2]

Ripley County is a county located in the Ozarks in the U.S. state of Missouri. As of the 2010 census, the population was 14,100. The largest city and county seat is Doniphan. The county was officially organized on January 5, 1833, and is named after Brigadier General Eleazer Wheelock Ripley, a soldier who served with distinction in the War of 1812.

History

A post office called Poynor was established in 1891, and remained in operation until 1992. [3] The community has the name of Marion C. Poynor, a local merchant. [4]
