The Praga E-40 was a single engine, two seat, biplane basic trainer, built in Czechoslovakia in the mid-1930s.
The E-40, one of several Praga trainer designs, was a single-bay biplane with open, tandem cockpits. The swept wings had twin wooden spars and a mixture of plywood and fabric covering. Ailerons were fitted to the lower wing and the upper wing had a cut-out on its trailing edge to enhance visibility from the forward cockpit. The N-form interplane struts were steel and the bay braced with streamlined wires. A pair of vertical N-form struts joined the wing centre section to the upper fuselage. The fixed tail surfaces were wood framed and plywood covered; the tailplane was strut braced from below. Elevators and rudder were fabric covered over steel frames. The rudder had a trim tab. [1]
The fuselage of the E-40 was a steel structure, rigidly braced at the front and wire braced aft. The nose and the upper decking were covered with detachable steel panels; fabric covering was used elsewhere. Fuel and engine oil tanks were in the fuselage. The E-40 was powered by a four-cylinder 63/71 kW (85/95 hp) Walter Minor air-cooled, inverted piston engine driving a two-blade propeller. It had a split type main undercarriage with wheels on V-form legs mounted just forward of the wing leading edge. Rubber-in-compression spring units were mounted in extended hubs; the pistons of these units were held in place on a shallow, inverted V strut, itself attached to the lower fuselage via a steel tube pyramid. The tailwheel castored and had rubber springing within the rear fuselage. [1]
There are no records of the E-40 entering production and it is possible that only the prototype, OK-EDA, [2] [3] was built.

The Aero A.23 was a Czechoslovakian airliner of the 1920s. Aero Vodochody had produced the first Czech airliner, the A.10, four of which had served with ČSA, the national airline. The A.23, another biplane, was bigger, more powerful, and could carry more passengers.
The Avia BH-21 was a fighter biplane designed and produced by the Czechoslovakian aircraft manufacturer Avia. First flown in January 1925, it served an important role in securing Czechoslovak national security during the Interwar period.
The Fokker F.V was a Dutch airliner created by Fokker in the 1920s. The most interesting property of the F.V was that it could be configured either as a biplane or a monoplane, as the lower wing could be removed. It was not a success and only one was built.
The Praga E-45 was a single-engined, single-seat biplane fighter built in Czechoslovakia in the mid-1930s. It appeared a little too late to compete with the similar Avia B-534 and failed to get a production order.
The Kondor D 6 was a prototype German biplane fighter aircraft flown in 1918. In the interests of better upward vision for the pilot, its upper wing was in two halves, separated over the central fuselage. Its development was soon abandoned.

The Aerial Service Mercury Senior, Aerial Mercury Senior or just Mercury Senior was a US biplane mailplane designed to operate at night between New York City and Chicago. A different, smaller, lower wing improved its performance for daytime flights. One was built and used by the United States Post Office Department.
The Medwecki and Nowakowski M.N.5 was an economical Polish trainer aircraft initially aimed at the club market, though there was also some military interest. It performed well but lacked a constructor after Samolot became insolvent in 1930, so only one was completed.
