Pramod Govindrao Yeole is an Indian academic and pharmaceutical scientist who is serving as the vice chancellor of the Rajasthan University of Health Sciences (RUHS) since March 2025. [1] He has previously held leadership roles as vice chancellor of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University (BAMU), [2] and pro-vice-chancellor of Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU). He faced opposition from Indian Medical Association on his appointment as vice chancellor of RUHS, [3] and has also served as vice president of the Pharmacy Council of India. [4] Yeole has been recognised among India’s Top 20 Eminent Vice-Chancellors by uLektz Wall of Fame. [5]
Yeole studied pharmaceutical sciences at the University of Mumbai and later pursued postgraduate studies at Savitribai Phule Pune University. He obtained a doctoral degree in pharmaceutical sciences from Nagpur University. [6]
Yeole began his academic career at the Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (IPER) in Wardha,where he worked as professor and principal for more than a decade. His research included work on herbal formulations,drug standardization,dosage forms such as floating tablets and dispersible tablets,and drug delivery systems including transdermal,ocular,mucoadhesive,and buccoadhesive applications. Yeole was appointed pro-vice-chancellor of Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University in June 2015. Later,he became vice chancellor of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University im 2019. [2] During this period,he was also given additional charge as acting vice chancellor of Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University. In 2021,he became vice president of the Pharmacy Council of India,and also chaired the All-India Board of Pharmaceutical Education under the All India Council for Technical Education. [4]
In March 2025,he was appointed vice chancellor of the Rajasthan University of Health Sciences. [8] Yeole appointment as a non-MBBS vice chancellor of RUHS,led controversy among the medical community and Indian Medical Association (IMA). [3] [9]
In 2020,a patent was granted to Yeole for a process related to nanoparticles for targeting the central nervous system in neuro-AIDS, [10] and in 2021 a patent for a chitosan-based copolymer intended to improve the solubility of the antiretroviral drug Efavirenz. [11]
Yeole has been recognised among India’s Top 20 Eminent Vice-Chancellors by uLektz Wall of Fame. [5]
