Prashant Thakur is an Indian politician from Maharashtra. He is a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party.
Thakur was born in Panvel on 5 August 1974,son of Ramsheth Changu Thakur and Shakuntala Thakur. [1] Ramsheth Thakur is a former Member of Parliament (MP). [2] Thakur started studying civil engineering but left after his second year.
He married Varsha Thakur and raised 2 children.[ citation needed ]
Thakur was elected to the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly from Panvel,Maharashtra in the 2009 Maharashtra Legislative Assembly election as a candidate from the Indian National Congress Party. [3]
He served as Chairman of CIDCO,a politician in Panvel contested the 2014 Maharashtra Elections.
Thakur became President of the Raigad District Youth Congress Committee in 2005. He then became the President of the Panvel Municipal Corporation in 2006 and served until 2009. [4]
Thakur is a member of the board of directors at Janardan Bhagat Shikshan Prasarak Sanstha in Panvel. He is the managing director at Shahu Institute of Information Technology Pvt. Ltd.
He serves as managing director of the Shahu Institute of Information Technology and the Director of Malhar Network - the core entity which organizes the popular Malhar Mahotsav at CKT College,Panvel. [5]

Thakur changed parties during his career. He first joined the PWP party. He then joined Congress party and then joined BJP. Former Uran MLA Vivek Patil warned Thakur to file PIL against him. He said "Thakur had used unfair means to acquire land for sports complex in Ulwe". [6] The Shiv Sena-led Maharashtra government removed Thakur as chairman of CIDCO,which was building the Navi Mumbai international airport with a private player. [7]

New Panvel is a residential,commercial and educational node of Navi Mumbai,Raigad District,Maharashtra and comes under the Konkan division. New Panvel was developed on marshy land and was previously a Mango cultivated area. New Panvel is divided into two parts:New Panvel (E),on the eastern side of Panvel railway station and Khanda Colony or New Panvel (W) on the western side of it. Both parts of New Panvel are connected by a flyover bridge also known as Khanda Colony Flyover. The City and Industrial Development Corporation of Maharashtra (CIDCO) is an Indian city planning agency and richest government authority in India which is formed and controlled by the Government of Maharashtra. CIDCO was formed on 17 March 1970 under the Indian Companies Act of 1956;its purpose at the time of its creation was to develop a satellite town to Mumbai,Maharashtra,and now functioning as New Town Development Authority (NTDA) and Special Planning Authority (SPA) of Government of Maharashtra for development of new towns by planning and developing entire urban infrastructure,providing municipal services,executing large scale infrastructure projects including Navi Mumbai International Airport and the Navi Mumbai Metro. Kalamboli is one of the nodes of Navi Mumbai in Raigad District. It is a transportation hub,being situated at the junction of the Sion-Panvel Highway,NH 48,Panvel By-Pass,NH 66 and Mumbai-Pune Expressway and is among the biggest iron and steel delivery centers in India. The township,like the rest of Navi Mumbai,is divided into sectors,which are further divided into plots. The residential and commercial areas of Kalamboli are divided by the NH 4 highway. Roadpali,a region to the north of Kalamboli,is developing at a faster rate than the latter with many residential projects coming up due to availability of land. Roadpali is located along the Taloja Link Road. Kalamboli also houses the Navi Mumbai Police Headquarters. CIDCO is the nodal administrative body for Kalamboli node. Kalamboli also has a Sewage Water Treatment Plant owned by CIDCO. Kalamboli is now governed by Panvel Municipal Corporation (PMC). The terminal of Mumbai-Pune Expressway is at Kalamboli. It also has Navi Mumbai's largest marble market alongside the Sion Panvel Highway.

Dinkar Balu Patil also known as D.B. Patil was an Indian Lawyer,politician,&social activist. He was a senior member of the Peasants and Workers Party of India. He worked with the local farmers of Navi Mumbai for getting right price of their land which was to be purchased by CIDCO for building the new planned city. For this notable contribution Navi Mumbai International Airport has been named after him.

Family members have also led the Congress party for most of the period since 1978 when Indira Gandhi floated the then Congress(I) faction of the party. The dynastic phenomenon is seen from national level down to district level and even village level.The three-tier structure of Panchayati Raj established in the 1960s also helped to create and consolidate the dynastic phenomenon in rural areas. Apart from government,political families also control cooperative institutions,mainly cooperative sugar factories,district cooperative banks in the state,and since the 1980s private for profit colleges. The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party also features several senior leaders who are dynasts. In Maharashtra,the NCP has particularly high level of dynasticism.

Navi Mumbai Airport Influence Notified Area (NAINA) is a proposed planning area in Raigad district of Maharashtra,an Indian state. City and Industrial Development Corporation of Maharashtra Limited (CIDCO) has been appointed planning authority for the same. It comprises approximate 170 villages in Pen,Panvel,and Uran talukas of Raigad district. The city will consist of small cities that will be hubs for agro-farming,education,trade,information technology,services,medical treatment,etc. This city is being developed in fulfilment of the conditions under which environmental clearances were given by the Ministry of Environmental &Forest (MoEF),Government of India that development plan for Navi Mumbai be modified to prevent unplanned development in the vicinity of the proposed airport. NAINA enjoys proximity of Navi Mumbai and has influence of Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA),JNPT and proposed transport corridors viz. Multi Modal Corridor,Mumbai Trans Harbor Link (MTHL),Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC),SPUR etc.
Municipal Corporation of The City of Panvel is the governing body of the city of Panvel and 29 revenue villages including Taloje Pachnand,Kharghar,Kamothe in Raigad district. Municipal Corporation mechanism in India was introduced during British Rule with formation of municipal corporation in Madras (Chennai) in 1688,later followed by municipal corporations in Bombay (Mumbai) and Calcutta (Kolkata) by 1762. Panvel Municipal Corporation is headed by Mayor of city and governed by Commissioner. Panvel Municipal Corporation has been formed with functions to improve the infrastructure of town.
