The provincial subdivision has a population of about 12,000 inhabitants in an area of 2,284 km2, and its capital city is Presidencia de la Plaza, which is located around 1,120 km from the Capital federal.
The Parque Nacional Chaco (Chaco National Park) is partially situated in the Presidencia de la Plaza Department. The park consists of woodland, rivers and lakes. Native Fauna include Tapirs, Monkeys, Armadillos and Viscachas.

Parque del Café is a theme park in the department of Quindío, Colombia, 4 km south-west of the town of Montenegro and 11 km west of the departmental capital city Armenia. The park was founded by the National Federation of Coffee Growers of Colombia and the Departmental Committee of Coffee Growers of Quindío, and opened on 24 February 1995. It consists of two main areas: by the main entrance are the buildings housing the museum and exhibitions detailing the history, culture and process of growing and producing coffee in the region; and in the valley beyond is an amusement park with rides and shows. The two areas are linked by two gondola lifts and a chairlift: it is also possible to walk between the two areas via an ecological trail that passes through a plantation of many varieties of coffee bushes.
Amboró National Park in central Bolivia is a nature reserve with over 912 species of birds, over 177 mammalian species including puma, ocelot, and the rare spectacled bear. Covering an area of 4,425 km², it is protected from human settlements, hunting, mining and deforestation, though problems with all these still exist within the park. The Carrasco National Park is placed adjacent to Amboró, and together the two form a larger conservation unit.
