The president of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (Filipino : Pangulo ng Politeknikong Unibersidad ng Pilipinas) is the principal executive officer of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines. [2] The president oversees the policy implementation, guide the institution towards the realization of its vision-mission, as well as monitor and administer the overall affairs of the university, and is the vice-chairman of its Board of Regents. Republic Act No. 8292, [3] formed in 1996, establishes the powers, and appointment of the President of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines.

Manuel Muhi, is the 13th and current president of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines. He assumed office on March 17, 2020 and officially sworn as president on October 1, 2021 due to prompt declaration of lockdown in Luzon last year. [4]

Don Gabriel A. Daza, KGCR, KC*SS was the first Filipino electrical engineer and one of the charter members of the Boy Scouts of the Philippines (BSP). He co-founded the Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company (PLDT), Philippine Telegraph and Telephone Co. (PT&T), Philippine Electric Manufacturing Company (PEMCO), Phelps Dodge Philippines. He was the Supervising Engineer and Assistant General Manager of Visayan Electric Company (VECO) and led its expansion out of Cebu City. President and Chief Scout of the BSP in 1961-68. In 1945, President Osmeña appointed Daza to be a member of the Board of Directors of the Manila Railroad Company and the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office. In 1950, he was Vice-Chairman of the National Power Corporation and on the board of directors of the Manila Hotel Company. In 1951, Daza was appointed by President Quirino as a founding member of the Board of Directors of the National Shipyard and Steel Corporation. What originally started as the Manila Business School that opened in 1904, is now the Polytechnic University of the Philippines, the largest university system in the country by enrollment.

The Polytechnic University of the Philippines Centennial Year is a yearlong celebration in 2004 celebrating the centenary of the establishment of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines. It was celebrated throughout the system. Colleges and other schools have celebrated their anniversaries in accordance to theme of the Centennial Year: "PUP: Kabalikat sa Pag-aangat ng Antas ng Buhay ng Mamamayan".

Rustica Cruz Carpio was a Filipino actress, scholar, playwright, philanthropist, and public servant. Most notably an actress, she performed on stage, film, and television. She received acclaim for her role as Lola Puring in Grandmother, a film by Filipino director Brillante Mendoza which was selected to compete in various international film festivals, including Venice and Dubai. For her acting work in the said film, she was critically well-received, earning nominations and awards, winning the Gawad Urian for Best Actress, the Crystal Simorgh for Best International Actress at the Fajr International Film Festival in Iran, and the Las Palmas International Film Festival Best Actress award in Spain.

Students' Party for Equality and Advancement of Knowledge (SPEAK) was a non-profit student political party in the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP). PUP SPEAK was one of the organizations that pushed for the university's "national polytechnic university" status, with an allocation of additional ₱3 billion budget annually. It also launched the "academic ease" campaign, where it pushed for the implementation of measures that aimed to help students and educators to quickly adapt to distance learning, brought by the COVID-19 pandemic. The campaign was supported by Education Secretary Leonor Briones. SPEAK also supports a smoke-free environment for the new normal.
