Dream Theater is an American progressive metal band formed in 1985 under the name Majesty by John Petrucci, John Myung and Mike Portnoy while they attended Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts. They subsequently dropped out of their studies to concentrate further on the band that would eventually become Dream Theater. Though a number of lineup changes followed, the three original members remained together until September 8, 2010, when Portnoy left the band and he was replaced several months later by Mike Mangini. James LaBrie has been the lead singer of Dream Theater since 1991, replacing Charlie Dominici who had left the band two years earlier. Dream Theater's first keyboardist, Kevin Moore, left the band after three albums and was replaced by Derek Sherinian in 1995 after a period of touring. After one album with Sherinian, the band replaced him with current keyboardist Jordan Rudess in 1999.
Liquid Tension Experiment (LTE) was an English-American instrumental progressive metal supergroup, founded by Mike Portnoy, then Dream Theater's drummer, in 1997. The band has released two albums through Magna Carta Records. A third album, with the absence of John Petrucci was released in 2007 under the name "Liquid Trio Experiment". A live album with the absence of Jordan Rudess (mostly) was released in 2009 under the name "Liquid Trio Experiment 2". Three live albums and two videos were released in 2009 by the complete band.
OSI is an American progressive rock band, originally formed by Fates Warning guitarist Jim Matheos in 2002. Chroma Key keyboardist and vocalist Kevin Moore is the only other full-time member of the band. The collaboration may be considered a studio project, as its members and contributors write and track most of their material independently, sharing and developing tracks long-distance, only coming together at the end of the process for mixing and additional tracking. The band's name is a reference to the Office of Strategic Influence, a short-lived American government agency formed in 2001 to support the War on Terror through propaganda. The band has featured a number of guest musicians on its albums, including Sean Malone, Steven Wilson, Mikael Akerfeldt, Joey Vera and Gavin Harrison.
Images and Words is the second studio album by American progressive metal band Dream Theater, released on July 7, 1992 through ATCO Records. It is the first Dream Theater release to feature James LaBrie on vocals. Since its release, the album has maintained its position as the band's most commercially successful studio album, and the song "Pull Me Under" has the distinction of being the only Top 10 hit the band has had to date. This particular song has also had more recent success as it has appeared in the 2008 video game Guitar Hero World Tour.

When Dream and Day Unite is the debut studio album by American progressive metal band Dream Theater, released on March 6, 1989, through Mechanic/MCA Records. The album is composed mainly of material that originally surfaced during the band's early years as Majesty, and it is the only Dream Theater album to be recorded with their full original lineup that featured Charlie Dominici on vocals, as James LaBrie replaced Dominici as the lead vocalist on all subsequent albums.

The title alludes to their only top 10 radio hit, "Pull Me Under". It features three songs from their breakthrough album Images and Words remixed by Kevin Shirley: "Pull Me Under", "Take the Time", and "Another Day". It also features the song "To Live Forever", an Awake-era re-recording of the song from the Images and Words sessions, which was previously unreleased on a full-length album. Several single edits of popular Dream Theater songs are also featured on this compilation.

Wither is a single by the progressive metal band Dream Theater, released on September 15, 2009. The single contains the album version of the song "Wither", an alternative version of "Wither" with vocals and piano only, a demo of "Wither" with John Petrucci on vocals, and a demo of "The Best of Times" with Mike Portnoy on vocals. It is the band's last official release with Portnoy, who left the band in September 2010. This is the only studio release without the Majesty symbol in its front cover.
Live at the Marquee is the first live album recorded at London's Marquee Club by progressive metal band Dream Theater. The cover image is inspired by the Sacred Heart of Jesus. It features the exclusive release of "Bombay Vindaloo," an improvisation-based composition performed live only six times and never recorded in a studio. "The Killing Hand" is preceded by an instrumental titled "Another Hand", written on tour specifically to bridge from the ending of "Another Day". Most of James LaBrie's vocals were actually re-recorded in a studio.

A Dramatic Tour of Events was a worldwide tour by the North American progressive metal/rock band Dream Theater, promoting their eleventh studio album, A Dramatic Turn of Events. It was band's first tour with the new drummer Mike Mangini, who replaced Mike Portnoy after his sudden departure from the band in September 2010. The tour began July 4, 2011 in Rome, Italy and concluded September 1, 2012 in Brasília, Brazil. Unlike the two tours prior, Dream Theater did not tour Australia.
Progressive Nation 2009 was a North American and European tour headlined by the progressive metal band Dream Theater. The tour's concept was created by the drummer Mike Portnoy. The first leg of the tour began on July 24, 2009 in Miami and ended on August 29, 2009 in Los Angeles. The second leg began on September 23 in Helsinki, Finland and ended on October 31 in Ljublijana, Slovenia. This tour was part of the Dream Theater Black Clouds & Silver Linings World Tour, which included a previous European summer tour and following legs in Oceania, South America, North America and two final shows in Japan. It is also the band’s last official tour that featured their founding member and drummer Mike Portnoy before his departure from the group in September 2010.
Chaos in Motion Tour was a worldwide tour by the North American progressive metal/rock band Dream Theater, promoting their ninth studio album, Systematic Chaos, which was released on June 5, 2007. The 2007/2008 Chaos In Motion World Tour started off in Italy. Dream Theater played in the Gods of Metal concert on June 3, 2007. as well as various other European festivals including the Netherlands' Fields of Rock Festival, UK's Download Festival, the French festival Hellfest Summer Open Air alongside Megadeth, Korn, Mastodon and Slayer. The North American leg of the tour began on July 24 in San Diego, California and wrapped up on August 26 in Philadelphia. They played with opening acts Redemption and Into Eternity. The "Chaos In Motion" tour continued for the rest of the year and into 2008, playing shows in Asia, South America and, for the first time, Australia.
Octavarium Tour was a tour by American progressive metal/rock band Dream Theater. They began touring in support of Octavarium in Europe on June 10, 2005, beginning at the Sweden Rock Festival in Sölvesborg. The main Octavarium world tour began in September in Finland after the band finished performing for six weeks during Gigantour 2005, and saw the band continue with their "An Evening With Dream Theater" concert format. This meant the band would play for almost three hours, with a different setlist each evening.
Train of Thought Tour was the world tour by progressive metal/rock band Dream Theater, promoting their seventh studio album, Train of Thought. Using the now-familiar An Evening With Dream Theater format, playing lengthy shows with a surprisingly sharp emphasis on changing setlists and incorporating cover songs. Early on in the tour, the band performed Train of Thought from start to finish in its entirety. The tour began January 16, 2004 in Manchester, England and concluded September 22, 2004 in Monterrey, Mexico.

Dream Theater started with a "warm-up" leg in One-off American Shows in New York City January 19, 2002, continued with 1st European leg in Manchester, England January 25, 2002. The tour continued with North American leg March 3, 2002, and Asia leg around April 2002, and concluded With 3rd European Leg November 8, 2002 in Istanbul, Turkey.
Sons of Apollo is an American progressive metal supergroup formed in 2017 and composed of drummer Mike Portnoy, bassist Billy Sheehan, keyboardist Derek Sherinian, vocalist Jeff Scott Soto, and guitarist Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal.
