Pukarani (Aymara pukara fortress, [2] -ni a suffix, "the one with a fortress", also spelled Pucarani) is a mountain in the Bolivian Andes which reaches a height of approximately 3,720 m (12,200 ft). It is located in the La Paz Department, Loayza Province, Malla Municipality. Pukarani lies northwest of Chuqi Tira. The Malla Jawira flows along its south-western slopes. [1] [3]
Aymara is an Aymaran language spoken by the Aymara people of the Andes. It is one of only a handful of Native American languages with over one million speakers. Aymara, along with Spanish, is one of the official languages of Bolivia and parts of Peru. Pukara is a defensive hilltop site or fortification built by the prehispanic and historic inhabitants of the central Andean area. The river Jach'a K'uchu Jawira flows along the northern slopes of Jach'a Qullu.
