Punyashlok Ahilyabai is an Indian Hindi-language historical drama television series that aired from 4 January 2021 to 27 October 2023 on Sony TV. It's digitally available on Sony LIV. It is based on the life of queen Ahilyabai Holkar, who reigned over the region of Malwa from 1767 to 1795 and Produced by Dashami Creations.

The series was announced by Dashami Creations and was confirmed in December 2020 by Sony TV. [5]

Casting

Marathi actress Aetashaa Sansgiri was cast to portray the elder version of Ahilya Bai. [6] Kinshuk Vaidya was supposed to play the elder version of Khanderao, but he opted out and was replaced by Gaurav Amlani. [7]

House of Scindia or earlier known as the Sendrak was a Hindu Maratha Royal House that ruled the erstwhile Gwalior State in central India. It had the Patil-ship of Kanherkhed in the district of Satara and was founded by Ranoji Scindia, who was sardar of maratha empire and real maratha warrior clan appointed by chattrapati shahuji maharaj-1's servant family from kokan worked as prime minister also known as Peshwa Bajirao I. Maheshwar is a town, near Khargone city in Khargone district of Madhya Pradesh state, in central India. The Holkars were the ruling house of the Indore State of the Maratha Confederacy, and earlier held the rank of Subahdar under Peshwa Baji Rao I. When the Maratha Confederacy began to weaken due to internal clashes, the Holkars declared themselves the rulers of Indore in Central India, existing as an autonomous member of the Maratha Confederacy until 1818. <span class="mw-page-title-main">Raghunath Rao</span> Peshwa of the Maratha Confederacy

Raghunathrao, also known as Ragho Ballal or Raghoba Dada, was the younger son of Peshwa Bajirao I who served as the 11th Peshwa of the Maratha Confederacy for a brief period from 1773 to 1774. He led successful campaigns in Northern India against the Rohillas in the Battle of Delhi (1757), resulting in the Marathas becaming the de-facto rulers of Delhi with Mughal Emperor Alamgir II having no actual power. He also led successful campaigns against the Durrani Empire at Sirhind and Attock and brought Northwestern India, under Maratha rule for a brief period. Ahmad Shah Abdali sought revenge against the Marathas for capturing Punjab and defeating the Durrani armies. He made preparations for another campaign in India. Raghoba asked for a large financial assistance in order to check Abdali's advance which was refused by Peshwa Nana Saheb. Malhar Rao Holkar was a noble subedar of the Maratha Empire, in present-day India. He was one of the early officers along with Ranoji Scindia to help spread the Maratha rule to northern states and was given the estate of Indore to rule by the Peshwas, during the reign of the Maratha emperor Shahu I. He was founder of the Holkar dynasty that ruled Malwa.

Khanderao Holkar was the only son of Malhar Rao Holkar, the founder of the Holkar dynasty of Indore, and Gautama Bai. He was the husband of Ahilyabai Holkar. He served as a Maratha Sardar and fought several campaigns on behest of the Maratha empire.

The battle of Kumher was fought among Jats, Marathas and Mughals.

Aetashaa Sansgiri is an Indian actress and model who primarily works in Marathi and Hindi television along with Marathi films. Sansgiri is best known for her portrayal of Ahilyabai Holkar in Sony TV's historical drama series Punyashlok Ahilyabai.
