R. Velappan Nair was a former Malayalam film director, producer and cinematographer. [1] [2] [3] His movie in 1969, Aaryankavu Kollasangam was a very new experiment in Indian cinema. [1] [3]
Velappan Nair was born in an affluent, aristocratic family Illickal in Alappuzha on 29 November 1907. His passion for theatre brought his school education to an abrupt halt. He even joined a drama troupe from Tamil Nadu and went off with them without informing his family. This troupe travelled and reached Madras. He worked there in Syamala Film Studio as assistant director and also picked up the basics of cinematography.
In 1950, he directed his first Malayalam movie named Sthree story based on the drama with the same name of Thikkurissy Sukumaran Nair. And, he was also the cameraman of the film. After, Velappan Nair directed Yachakan in '51, Lokaneethi in '53, Kalam Marunnu in '55, Minnunnathellam Ponnalla in '57, Aaryankavu Kollasangam in'69. [1]
Prem Nazir was an Indian film actor known as one of Malayalam cinema's definitive leading men of his generation. He is widely regarded as one of the most influential actors in the history of Indian cinema. A popular cultural icon of Kerala, Nazir is often referred to as Nithyaharitha Nayakan. Balakrishnan Nair, more popularly known as Balan K. Nair was an Indian actor known for his roles in Malayalam cinema. Although he appeared as a villain in most films, he was also noted for his performances in strong character roles. He emerged as one of the top villain of Malayalam cinema in the second half of the 1970s and played some of the best villain characters in Malayalam films during that period. He won the National Film Award for Best Actor in 1981 for his performance as Govindan in the film Oppol.
Paravoor Govindan Devarajan (1927-2006), popularly known as G. Devarajan or Devarajan master, was an Indian music composer and carnatic vocalist. He scored music for more than three hundred Malayalam films, many dramas, and twenty Tamil and four Kannada movies. His music in the Tamil film Annai Velankanni has received many accolades. Devarajan received Kerala Government's Best Music Director award five times, among other honours. In 2005, he was honoured with the J. C. Daniel Award, Kerala government's highest honour for contributions to Malayalam cinema.
Pulloottupadathu Bhaskaran alias as P. Bhaskaran, was a Malayalam poet, lyricist of Malayalam film songs and filmmaker. He penned more than 3000 songs for about 250 films. He also directed 44 Malayalam feature films and three documentaries, produced six feature films and acted in several movies. For his overall contributions to Malayalam cinema, he was awarded J. C. Daniel Award by the Government of Kerala.

Ragini was an Indian danseuse and actress. She was the youngest of the famed Travancore Sisters; Lalitha, Padmini and Ragini. She started her acting career in the mid-1950s along with her sister Padmini and has acted in movies of different Indian languages, including Malayalam, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. She also starred opposite Shammi Kapoor in film Mujrim (1958). The era of dance in Hindi cinema is considered to have begun with the entrance of Ragini and other South Indian actresses. Ragini died of breast cancer in 1976. She had acted in many dramas also.
Vinayakan TK better known as Vinayakan is an in film actor and music composer who predominantly works in the Malayalam Film Industry. He also works in Tamil, Telugu and Bollywood films. In 2016, Vinayakan won the Kerala State Film Award for Best Actor for his performance of Ganga in Rajiv Ravi's Kammatipaadam and also well appreciated by the critics. He also composed a song for the film.
S. Ramesan Nair was an Indian lyricist and poet who worked predominantly in the Malayalam film industry. Over his career he wrote songs for over 170 films and over 3,000 devotional songs outside of the films. He debuted with the movie Pathamudhayam in 1985. He was a recipient of the Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award in 2010 and the Kendra Sahitya Akademi Award in 2018 for his collection of poems Gurupournami.
