The RV Meteor (also Meteor III) is a multidisciplinary research vessel operating mainly on the high sea. She is owned by the German state represented by its Federal Ministry of Education and Research [3] and registered in Hamburg. [1]
RV Meteor operates mainly in the areas of the Atlantic, the eastern Pacific, and the western Indian Oceans, as well as the Mediterranean and the Baltic Seas. [3] The current Meteor is the third German research vessel in a row sharing the same name, after Meteor and RV Meteor (1964).
Until 2012, Meteor was operated by Bremerhaven based company F. Laeisz GmbH. Since January 2013 the ship has a new operator, Briese Schiffahrt in Leer. [4] It can accommodate up to 30 scientists for work in 20 laboratories on the main deck. [4]
A new ship named Meteor was ordered at Meyer Werft and Fassmer in 2022 to replace the Meteor and the Poseidon , which has already been retired, in 2026. [5] The Keel was laid on 11 July 2023 at Neptun Werft, Rostock. [6] [7] [8] [9] [10] The ship is going to be completed at Meyer Werft, Papenburg. [11] [12] [13] The hull was trowed from Rostock to Emden by the Tugs 'VB Breherhacen' and 'VB Roennbeck' to Emdem. On 10 August around noon, the section left Emden towed by the Radbod at the bow and the Gruno IV at the aft, followed by the Gruno 2, towards Papenburg. [14] [15] [16] [17]
GTS Jewel of the Seas is a Radiance-class cruise ship operated by Royal Caribbean. The ship was completed in the spring of 2004 with her maiden voyage in May of that year.

The HSF Cruise Bonaria is a Ro-Pax high speed ferry, built in 2000 at the Sestri Ponente shipyards by Fincantieri and owned by Grimaldi Lines previously owned by Minoan Lines as Knossos Palace. It can accommodate up to 2,500 passengers and 700 cars, and has 758 beds plus 742 airseats for passengers. The vessel is powered by four 4x Wärtsilä 16V46C diesel engines with a combined power of 67,517 kW, which give her a top 'speed of 31,6 knots. In November 2020 Minoan Lines announced that Knossos Palace exchanged with her former ship Cruise Bonaria previously named Olympia Palace. The first sold to Grimaldi Lines and renamed it Cruise Bonaria and the other one renamed Knossos Palace. The former Knossos Palace was under the Minoan Lines 20 years. For 20 years did the Piraeus-Heraklion route. The ship left Greece forever on 24 November and arrived in Napoli, Italy after two days. In there will change signals and name.
RV Atair is a research vessel owned and operated by the Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency of Germany (BSH). She entered service in 2021 and replaces a 1987-built research vessel also named Atair.
The Humanity 1 is a German Search and Rescue Ship. The former German research ship is owned by SOS Humanity, having previously been owned by Sea-Watch e. V., who use the ship for SAR operations of refugees in distress on the Mediterranean Sea. Previously, the GEOMAR Helmholtz Centre for Ocean Research Kiel (GEOMAR) operated the ship under the name of Poseidon, after the Greek god of the sea, with the State of Schleswig-Holstein as the owner.
