Tingongleima Chanu Kshetrimayum, shortly known as Tingu, and also by a misnomer Tingonleima Chanu, is an Indian former field hockey player. She was a member of the India women's national field hockey team. She hails from Manipur.

Coming from the Indian National Congress, Mairembam Koireng Singh achieved the honor of becoming the first Chief Minister of Manipur and he governed the state for 5 years and 266 days in three terms between 1963 and 1969.

Moirangthem Kirti Singh is an Indian writer, scholar and educationist from Manipur. Born on 1 February 1943 at Kongba Uchekon near Imphal to M. Borajao Singh, Singh completed his education from Johnstone Higher Secondary School, Imphal and D. M. College, which were under Guwahati University during those days, securing a BA (Honours) and MA in philosophy. Later, he obtained a bachelor's degree in Law (LLB) from LMS Law College, Imphal in 1965, followed by a doctoral degree (PhD) in 1972, making him one of the first Meitei to be awarded a PhD. He is also the first Meitei to receive a DLitt. He served various colleges in Manipur as a member of faculty and has also been involved in social activism.
Pangambam Nilakomol Singh is regarded as "the first Olympian of Manipur (India)". He represented India at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles in field hockey. He was born on 1 March 1955 at Moirangkhom Bokulmakhong, Imphal. Son of the late P. Babu Singh and Ibeton Devi. He graduated in 1981, from Imphal College. He started playing hockey from early childhood. He was selected to represent Manipur State in the Senior National Hockey Championship held at Hyderabad in 1979. He had also played for Manipur State Junior Hockey Team in the National Junior Hockey Championship held at Jabalpur (1980), Kolhapur (1981) and Meerut (1982).

It is regarded as the greatest of all the epic poems in Meitei literature, with 39,000 verses, thereby being the third longest Indian epic poem, next to the Mahabharata and the Ramayana.
