In his review for AllMusic, Alain Drouot states "What makes this recording particularly successful is the fine interplay between Brown and Swell. The pieces often feature exciting but subtle dialogues and counterpoint. The pair's ideas are carefully developed and their attention to detail pays dividends as the two musicians stimulate and/or support one another." [1]
In a double review for All About Jazz, Clifford Allen observes that "Where Morris' music can suggest a somber Mark Rothko-like atmosphere, even in its most lickety-split moments, the music of Rob Brown suggests an urbane fauvism not unlike the paintings of Bob Thompson." [2]

Wilber Morris was an American jazz double bass player and bandleader. He was the brother of the cornetist, composer, and conductor Butch Morris.
Vocalese is the ninth studio album by Jazz band The Manhattan Transfer, released in 1985 on the Atlantic Records. Recording sessions took place during 1985. Production came from Tim Hauser and Martin Fischer. This album is considered to be The Manhattan Transfer's most critically acclaimed album. It received 12 Grammy nominations, making it second only to Michael Jackson's Thriller as the most nominated individual album. It also received extremely high ratings from music critics, including a 4.5 out of 5 stars rating from Allmusic. The album peaked at number 2 on the Top Jazz Albums and number 74 on the Billboard 200. The album's title Vocalese refers to a style of music that sets lyrics to previously recorded jazz instrumental pieces. The vocals then reproduce the sound and feel of the original instrumentation. Jon Hendricks, proficient in this art, composed all of the lyrics for this album.
Creative Improvised Music Projects, usually abbreviated CIMP or C.I.M.P., is an American jazz record company and label. It is associated with Cadence Magazine and Cadence Jazz Records. The label is noted for its minimal use of electronic processing and its spare microphoning technique. Bob Rusch founded CIMP in 1995, with his son Marc Rusch as the recording engineer and his daughter Kara Rusch producing cover art.

It was recorded in 2006 and released on the French RogueArt label. Right Hemisphere has been in existence since 1984 when Shipp and Brown first arrived in New York. The group originally had as its drummer Frank Bambara and shortly after Dickey replaced him. The trio was joined by bassist William Parker and their first recording Points appeared in 1990 under Shipp's leadership.
