Radisson Blu Hotel Hamburg is a hotel in Hamburg, Germany operated by Radisson Hotels under the Radisson Blu brand. At 108 meters, it is the tallest hotel in Hamburg and is on the list of tallest buildings in Hamburg and the list of tallest buildings in Germany.

It has 32 floors and 556 rooms. The hotel is in the Planten un Blomen park and is next to the Congress Center Hamburg and near Hamburg Dammtor station. The hotel also has 2,122 m2 of meeting space in 12 conference rooms on a separate floor. [1]

History

The hotel was designed by architects Jost Schramm and Gert Pempelfort. Construction began in 1970 and the hotel opened in April 1973 as Loews Hamburg Plaza. It was renamed Hamburg Plaza Hotel when it was managed by Canadian Pacific Hotels.

In 1988, it was acquired by SAS Group and renamed the SAS Hamburg Plaza Hotel. When SAS Group's SAS International Hotels created a co-brand with Radisson Hotels, it was renamed Radisson SAS Hamburg Hotel.

In October 2009, a €48 million renovation of the hotel was completed. [1]

In November 2009, a European hotel fund managed by Invesco acquired the hotel for €155 million. [2] The hotel was renamed the Radisson Blu Hotel Hamburg in 2009.

In November 2015, Azure acquired the hotel.

In March 2017, Wenaasgruppen acquired the hotel. [3]

The final episodes of the ZDF television series Timm Thaler were filmed at the hotel.

Rezidor Hotel Group AB, originally SAS International Hotels A/S and then Rezidor SAS Hospitality A/S, Rezidor SAS Hospitality Group AB (publ), was a listed hotel group company. Originally founded by Scandinavian conglomerate SAS Group as a hotel in 1960, it became a listed company in 2006. The global headquarters of Rezidor relocated to Brussels, Belgium, circa 1989. The listed company managed hotel chains under brands such as Radisson SAS (now Radisson Blu), Park Inn, and Country Inns & Suites. The brands were franchised from American hospitality and travel conglomerate Carlson Companies from 1994 (the Radisson brand) and 2002 (the other brands) respectively. In 2005, Carlson Companies acquired 25% of the shares of Rezidor Hotel Group from SAS Group. In 2007, SAS Group ceased to be a shareholder of the company.

The former Radisson Hotel Baltimore Downtown-Inner Harbor, now-branded as the Vivo Living Apartment Towers, was a temporarily vacant high-rise hotel-turned-apartment complex located in Baltimore, Maryland, opened in 1967. The former hotel complex contained 707 rooms in two nearly identical towers. The south tower was converted to a separate hotel in 2018, the Holiday Inn Baltimore - Inner Harbor, sharing all facilities with the Radisson. Both hotels closed permanently in March 2022, when the conversion to apartments began.

Radisson Hospitality, Inc. is an American multi-national hospitality company. It started as a division of Carlson Companies, which owned Radisson Hotels, Country Inns & Suites and other brands. In 1994, Carlson signed a franchise agreement with SAS International Hotels (SIH), after which SIH started to use the brand Radisson SAS in the Europe, Middle East and Africa markets. In 2005, Carlson acquired 25% of the shares of SIH, at that time known as Rezidor SAS Hospitality. In 2010, Rezidor Hotel Group became a subsidiary of Carlson. The enlarged hotel group adopted a new trading name, Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group, which was one of the top hotel corporations in 2013.

Triangle House, originally known as Safmarine House, is a 104-metre-tall (341 ft) building in Cape Town, South Africa. Construction work began in 1991 and it was completed in 1993 by Murray & Roberts Construction, now known as Concor at a cost of US$6,000,000. it was the last skyscraper built in Cape Town until the completion of the Portside Tower 21 years later in 2014. The building was originally named after its first occupant, the South African shipping company Safmarine. The building was originally owned by Old Mutual Investment Group Property Investments. In August 2023 the hotel within the building was sold to the real estate private equity firm Kasada Capital Management, the hotel is now operated by Accor under the Pullman brand.
