Raid 2 is an upcoming Indian Hindi-language crime thriller film directed by Raj Kumar Gupta. It stars Ajay Devgn, Ileana D'Cruz, Riteish Deshmukh, Vaani Kapoor, Suniel Shetty and Gayathiri Iyer. [1] [2] It is the sequel to Raid (2018), and follows the return of IRS officer Amay Patnaik, who tracks another white collar crime by Vishal Singhal.

Like the previous film, the sequel is also based on the income-tax raid conducted by the officers of Income Tax Department who work with intelligence agencies to track white-collar crimes. Raid 2 was announced in April 2020, and began pre-production in August 2022. [3] Filming took place in Mumbai, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi in the first half of 2024. It is scheduled to release on 21 February 2025.

The new film focuses on IRS officer Amay Patnaik, who tracks another white collar crime by Vishal Singhal. [4]

Development

The producer team of the original team is back together to produce the sequel. The writing team of the original film also are back together to write the script for the sequel. While Ajay Devgn retains his role, many other characters from the original have been changed including Ileana D'Cruz who played Amay Patnaik's wife as Malini Patnaik has been replaced with Vaani Kapoor. Riteish Deshmukh has also been roped in to play a key role and Suniel Shetty who played Vishal Singhal as the husband of Priya Singhal and Gayathiri Iyer who played Priya Singhal as the wife of Vishal Singhal.

Filming

Principal photography began on 6 January 2024 and took place in Mumbai, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan. [5] The mahurat shot of the film was given by Telugu star Ravi Teja, who headlined the 2024 Telugu remake of Raid . [6] Primary filming wrapped up in April 2024, and patchwork was done by late-May 2024, bringing the film to post-production. [7] [8]

Release

Initially planned to release on 15 November 2024, Raid 2 is now scheduled to release on 21 February 2025. [9]
