Gurmit Singh is the Governor of Uttarakhand since, September 15th, 2021 and in present July 2022. The beginning of construction started in April 1897 and took two years to complete. It is built on European pattern and based on Gothic architecture. After independence it was renamed as Raj Bhavan. Governor House is open all seven days for the visitors ticket price is 50.00 Rs one person. They send a group of visitors at once along with a guide and the time slots for visiting are 11 AM, 12 NOON, 1 PM, 2 PM, 3 PM, 4 PM. Maximum time is 35 to 40 minutes for explore. Parking facility available in front of the main entrance which is free. The golf course of Raj Bhavan is not opened for visitors. Taking photos indoors of the Governor House is not allowed but can take photos from the outside. Very well maintained and walking on the grass and garden is not allowed. The second Raj Bhavan or Governor's House of Uttarakhand is located in Nainital, it is the summer retreat of the governor of Uttarakhand. In the pre-Independence era, Nainital served as the summer capital of United Provinces and this building, built like a Scottish castle was christened as the "Government House". Raj Bhavan was built by the British as the residence of the governor of the North-Western Provinces. [1] The beginning of construction of Raj Bhavan started in April 1897 and took two years to complete. It is built on European pattern and based on Gothic architecture. The designers of Raj Bhavan at Nainital were Architect Stevens and the Executive Engineer F. O. W. Ortel. After independence it was renamed as Raj Bhavan. [1]

The Raj Bhavan estate is spread over 220 acre of area with a golf course in 45 acre of land. The golf course of Raj Bhavan, built in 1936, is one of the vintage golf courses in India, and is affiliated to the Indian Golf Union. In the post-independence period, Sarojini Naidu, the first governor of Uttar Pradesh, was the first occupant of this historic monument. [2]

Raj Bhavan Entry Fee and Timings

The entrance charge to Raj Bhawan is Rs. 50 per person. The Golf Course is an additional Rs. 450 per person.

Things to Know when visiting Raj Bhawan

Visitors are advised to exercise caution when encountering animals at the golf course, as it covers 45 acres and is situated within a diverse forest environment inhabited by numerous endangered and other wildlife species.
