Rajlakshmi O Srikanta is a 1958 Bengali drama film directed by Haridas Bhattacharya and produced by Kanan Devi [1] based on the iconic and famous novel Srikanta of the legendary Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay. [2] This film was released in 1958 [3] [4] under the banner of Srimati Pictures. The film stars Uttam Kumar Suchitra Sen, Anil Chatterjee, and Tulsi Chakraborty. Music direction of the film was done by Jnan Prakash Ghosh.
Srikanta goes to his friend Mahendra Rao's celebration where he meets Piyari Bai. Although he doesn't recognize her, Piyari knows him well as Srikanta was her childhood love. Piyari Bai reveals the past regarding how she was compelled by the wicked society, coupled with poverty and misfortune, due to which she had to take up this unholy profession. [5]

Kanan Devi was an Indian actress and singer. She was among the early singing stars of Indian cinema, and is credited popularly as the first star of Bengali cinema. Her singing style, usually in rapid tempo, was used instrumentally in some of the biggest hits of New Theatres, Kolkata.
Tulsi Chakraborty was an Indian actor and comedian who worked in Bengali cinema in the 1940s and 50s. His most notable role could be the lead role in Parash Pathar, directed by Satyajit Ray.

Bipasha is a 1962 Indian Bengali-language drama film starring Uttam Kumar and Suchitra Sen. and directed by Agradoot. The film is based on a novel titled Bipasha by Sri Tarashankar Bandyopadhay.The story fleetingly describes the horror of riots in West Pakistan during the time of Partition of India. Bipasa was described as a victim of that riot in the film. However, the film deviates from the original novel and avoids describing Bipasha as a gang rape victim by Pakistani Islamist rioters.
Byomkesh was a 2014 Indian Bengali crime fiction television series based on the Bengali sleuth Byomkesh Bakshi created by Sharadindu Bandyopadhyay.
