Rallabandi Kavitha Prasad (born Rallabandi Venkateswara Prasada Raju) [3] was an Indian poet and Avadhani. He performed over 500 'Avadhanams,' including satavadhanam (hundred-fold concentration) and dvisatavadhanam (two-hundred-fold concentration). He also wrote various sadhanas, such as navarasavadhanam (nine-fold concentration) and astadasavadhanam (eighteen-fold concentration). [4] He received a Doctor of Philosophy from Osmania University for his research on "Avadhana Vidya - Aaramba Vikaasaalu." [5] He was known as "Avadhana RaaRaaju". He was survived by his wife Nagini Devi and sons Ramakoteswara Raju and Samvaran Kashyap.
Rallabandi Kavitha Prasad was born in Nemali, Gampalagudem mandal of Krishna district (now NTR district) in Andhra Pradesh. He graduated from a college in Sattupalli and later received a B.Ed. from a college in Machilipatnam. He began his career as a teacher in private schools in the Bhadrachalam and Sarapaka areas. He later became a government teacher, where he worked to promote Telugu language and culture. [6]
Rallabandi Kavitha Prasad joined the Indian Information Service and served as an Information Officer in Hyderabad. He then passed the Group-I services examination and became a Deputy Director in the Social Welfare Department. He later served as Regional Joint Director, Director of the Department of Culture in Andhra Pradesh, [7] [8] and an officer in the Tirumala-Tirupati Devasthanams [9] in undivided Andhra Pradesh, and later in the newly formed Telangana.
Rallabandi Kavitha Prasad was known for his command of the Telugu language. [10] He excelled in Avadhanam, performing Ashtavadhanam, Satavadhanam, and introducing Ashtadasa Avadhanam. He performed over 500 Avadhanams. [11]
He was also an orator. In the presence of Dr. C. Narayana Reddy, he presented 300 extempore poems in the Kanda Padyam style and was given the title "Aasu Kavi Samrat" by Dr. Reddy. He organized the "Live in Poem" event at the Bhadrachalam temple.
He helped organize the fourth World Telugu Conference in Tirupati in 2012. [12] [13] [14] His published works include "Dhwani", "Ontari Poolabutta", "Agni Hams", "Kaadambin", "Avadhana Vidy— Arambha Vikasal", "Padyamandapa", "Idi Kavisamayam" and "Saptagiridhama Srivenkateswara Swamy". He also authored "Avadhana Vidy Arambha Vikasal", "Padyamandapa", "Idi Kavisamaya", "Nooru teegala veena", "Sakti Upasan", "Dositlo Bhoomandala", "Satavadhana kavita prasada", and "Dwisatavadhana kavita prasada". Rallabandi suffered a cardiac seizure about a month before his death. He was found to have blockages in three valves and was put on a ventilator. [17] He experienced kidney failure and died of multiple organ failure at age 53.
Bureaucratic complications delayed the release of funds for his treatment, but then Chief Minister of Telangana, K Chandrashekar Rao, intervened. His family reportedly faced difficulties obtaining timely financial assistance. [18]
Rallabandi Kavitha Prasad was honored with an award for his literary achievements by State Governor ESL Narasimhan. [19]
Tallapaka Annamacharya, also popularly known as Annamayya, was a Telugu musician, composer, and a Hindu saint. He is the earliest known Indian musician to compose songs called samkirtanas. His devotional samkirtanas were in the praise of Venkateswara, a form of Vishnu. Annamayya is said to have composed as many as 32,000 samkirtanas (songs) in the praise of Venkateswara of which only about 12,000 are available today. He wrote the highest number of Kirtanas of all time in the praise of Lord Vishnu The musical form of the kirtana songs that he composed, which are still popular among Carnatic music concert artists, have strongly influenced the structure of Carnatic music compositions. His compositions are classified as Adhyatma (spiritual) and Sringara (romantic). Annamacharya is remembered for his saintly life, as one of the greatest musicians and is honoured as a great devotee of Vishnu by devotees and saintly singers. He was one of the first few who opposed the social stigma towards the untouchable castes in his era.
Rajahmundry, officially Rajamahendravaram, is a city in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh and district headquarters of East Godavari district. It is the seventh most populated city in the state. During British rule, the district of Rajahmundry was created in the Madras Presidency in 1823. It was reorganised in 1859 and bifurcated into the Godavari and Krishna districts. Avadhānaṃ is a genre of performance in India, where a performer answers challenging questions from several questioners in parallel. The most popular variety, called sāhitya (literary) avadhānam involves the performer composing poetry, thereby entertaining the audience and demonstrating the poetic skills of the performer. The art form was developed particularly by Telugu poets in medieval times. It involves the partial improvisation of poems using specific themes, metres, forms, or words. There is a tradition of mentoring in Avadhanam. The best avadhanis have contributed to the oeuvres of Telugu and Kannada poetry.

He regularly appears on Telugu TV channels like SVBC, Bhakti TV, and ABN Andhra Jyothi giving discourses on ancient Hindu texts like Bhagavadgita, Ramayana, and Mahabharata. In 2022, he was awarded India's fourth-highest civilian award Padma Shri by the government of India.
Kodela Siva Prasada Rao was an Indian politician from the Telugu Desam Party and also a former Member of the Legislative Assembly from Narasaraopeta and Sattenapalle.
Kodandarama Temple is a Hindu temple dedicated to the god Rama, located in Vontimitta town in Vontimitta Mandalam of Kadapa District in the Indian state of Andhra. The temple, an example of Vijayanagara architectural style, is dated to the 16th century. It is stated to be the largest temple in the region. Tirupati laddu, also known as Tirumala laddu or Srivari laddu, is a popular sweet offered as prasadam at the Venkateswara Temple in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh, India. First introduced in 1715, the laddu evolved from a sweet called Manoharam and is now prepared in the temple's kitchen, Laddu Potu, by the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD). Over 600 people, including skilled cooks known as Pachakas, are involved in its production. The laddu received a Geographical Indication (GI) tag in 2009 to protect its authenticity. There are variations of the laddu, including the Proktham Laddu and Asthanam Laddu. In 2024, it was at the centre of a controversy over alleged adulteration, leading to investigations and a purification ritual.
P. V. R. K. Prasad, was an Indian civil servant who served as Media Advisor to the Prime Minister of India, P. V. Narasimha Rao from 1991 to 1996. Prasad is an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer belonging to 1966 batch of Andhra Pradesh cadre. He held several important posts in the center and state including media advisor to former Indian prime minister P. V. Narasimha Rao, executive officer (EO) of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams, and Director General of Dr. Marri Channa Reddy Human Resource Development Institute of Telangana. He brought a lot of reforms in the management of Tirumala temple to make it more people friendly. He continued to be an advisor of this temple even after retiring as an executive officer. He wrote several books about his experience working in with P. V. Narasimha Rao and working as an executive officer of Tirumala temple.

Asavadi Prakasa Rao was an Indian poet, critic, translator and scholar, who is known for his poetry and prose works. He is noted for his significant contribution to Telugu and Sanskrit literature. In January 2021, he was awarded India's fourth-highest civilian award the Padma Shri in the Arts and Literature category. As Ashtavadhani, he gave 170 performances and wrote and published 50 books across various genres. His most notable literary contribution is his performance of Avadhanam – a literary performance. He received an honorary D Litt from Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University and a Distinguished Teacher award from the Department of Higher Education, Government of Andhra Pradesh.
