Ramdien Sardjoe (born 10 October 1935) is a Surinamese politician and served as Vice President of Suriname from 2005 to 2010. [1] He is a member of the Progressive Reform Party (VHP). [2]

Before vice presidency,Sardjoe was the Chairman of the National Assembly from 2001 to 2005. [4]
In 2011,Sardjoe retired from politics,and Chan Santokhi was elected new Chairman of the VHP. [5]

The Progressive Reform Party,is a political party in Suriname. It was originally founded in January 1949 as a merger of three parties to represent the Indo-Surinamese community. The party occupies a position straddling the political centre and centre-left,advocating for a combination of social-democratic and social-liberal policies under the Third Way philosophy. During the party's history it frequently allied itself with the National Party of Suriname (NPS) that historically represented the Afro-Surinamese community.
The Pravasi Bharatiya Samman is the highest Indian award for Overseas Indians or an organisation or institution established and run by Overseas Indian diaspora,constituted by the Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs,Government of India in conjunction with the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas,to honour exceptional and meritorious contribution in their chosen field/profession. After promotion to flag rank,he served as the Fortress Commander,Andaman and Nicobar Islands (FORTAN) and as the first Flag Officer Submarines,before retiring in 1988.
