Marinus Bee (born 1971) [1] is a Surinamese politician,Chairman of the National Assembly of Suriname,and sports manager. As sports manager,he was chairman of the Albina Sports Foundation for ten years, [2] and since 2014 chairman of S.V. Papatam. [3] Bee has been elected to the National Assembly for the General Liberation and Development Party (ABOP) since 2010 for the Marowijne District. [2]
Bee was born as the oldest child of four in Moengo,and spend his youth in Paramaribo. He graduated from the Anton de Kom University in law,and in 2020 was accredited Master of Business Administration. [2]
In 1999,Bee was invited to join the ABOP by Ronnie Brunswijk. He participated in the 2000 elections,but he only received 800 votes. [4] In 2010 Bee was elected for the first time to the National Assembly. [2] In 2014,Bee became Chairman of the Party Congress of ABOP. [4] In the 2020 elections,Bee was elected to the National Assembly for the third consecutive time. [5] On 13 July,Ronnie Brunswijk was elected as Vice President of Suriname,and Marinus Bee became his replacement as Chairman of the National Assembly of Suriname on 14 July 2020. DesiréDelano Bouterse is a Surinamese military officer,politician,convicted murderer,and drug trafficker who served as President of Suriname from 2010 to 2020. From 1980 to 1987,he was Suriname's de facto leader after conducting a military coup and establishing a period of military rule. In 1987,Bouterse founded the National Democratic Party (NDP). On 25 May 2010,Bouterse's political alliance,the Megacombinatie,which included the NDP,won the parliamentary elections,and on 19 July 2010,Bouterse was elected as President of Suriname with 36 of 50 parliament votes. In 2015,he was first elected to the National Assembly by preferential votes. In 2020,Sharman was elected Vice Chairman of the National Assembly in an uncontested election.
Diana Marilva Pokie is a Surinamese politician. She was the assembly member from Brokopondo for the Brotherhood and Unity in Politics (BEP) before she was expelled. She returned to the assembly as the Brokopondo member representing the General Liberation and Development Party (ABOP) party. She became the first female vice-chairman of that party in 2019. On 16 July 2020,Pokie became Minister of Land and Forest Management. On 3 August 2021,Pokie was replaced by Dinotha Vorswijk.
