Rathish Ambat is an Indian film director, ad film director, and producer who works predominantly in the Malayalam film industry. [1] He is well known for his debut film Kammara Sambhavam which was released on 14 April 2018. Over the past twenty years, he has contributed to various roles in the film and advertising industries in Kerala. He has directed advertising films in several languages, such as Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi. [2]
Rathish Ambat began his career in the film industry as an assistant director in the early 2000s and subsequently progressed to the role of associate director. He has collaborated with prominent Malayalam directors like Lal Jose, Blessy, and Shyamaprasad on various projects. Among the notable Malayalam films he has contributed to are Narasimham (2000), Meesha Madhavan (2002), Mistress of Spice (2006), Ore Kadal (2007), and Calcutta News (2008).[ citation needed ]
In 2013 Ratish Ambat co-produced the film Ezhu Sundara Rathrikal directed by Lal Jose. [3] In 2015, Rathish's most popular project ‘The Great Backwaters' campaign for the Kerala Tourism board to promote the backwaters of Kerala went on to receive the Silver at the Golden Gate awards at the Internationale Tourismus-Börse Berlin (ITB-Berlin). [4] [5] He made his directorial movie debut through the Malayalam movie Kammara Sambhavam which won the National Film Award for Best Production Design and the Kerala State Film Awards for Best Costume Designer and Best Art Director. [6] He called the film "a satire that has politics, history and cinema". [7] The film won an award at the 66th National Film Awards. [8]
His second film Theerppu was originally designed for an OTT premiere, was later released in theaters on August 25, 2022. The film starred Prithviraj, Isha Talwar, and Indrajith. [9] [10]
His latest directorial project, Mindscapes, an anthology based on the works of the renowned Malayalam writer M.T. Vasudevan Nair, is scheduled to release in 2024. [11] [12]

The Kerala State Film Award for Best Actor is an award, begun in 1969, presented annually at the Kerala State Film Awards of India to an actor for best performance in a Malayalam film. Until 1997, the awards were managed directly by the Department of Cultural Affairs of the Government of Kerala. Since 1998, the awards have been constituted by the Kerala State Chalachitra Academy, an autonomous, non-profit institution functioning under the Department of Cultural Affairs. Left Right Left is a 2013 Indian Malayalam-language political drama film, directed by Arun Kumar Aravind and written by Murali Gopy. Left Right Left revolves around the lives of Jayan, Roy, Sahadevan, Anitha and Jennifer. Released on 14 June 2013, the film was set in three periods – the 60s/70s, the 80s/90s and the present day. It got mostly positive reviews upon release but drew occasional criticism for some of its characters and scenes resembling real-life political leaders and incidents. However, it has gathered a cult status over the years as one of the finest political thrillers ever made in Malayalam. Murali Gopy's performance won him the 61st Filmfare Awards South for The Best Actor in a Supporting Role and Lena Kumar won Kerala State Film Award for the Second Best Actress.Filmicompanion in 2019 included Hareesh Peradi's performance in the Top 100 performances of the decade.
Lucifer is a 2019 Indian Malayalam-language political action thriller film directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran and written by Murali Gopy. Produced by Antony Perumbavoor through the production house Aashirvad Cinemas, the film marks Prithviraj's directorial debut and features Mohanlal in the title role, alongside an ensemble supporting cast including Vivek Oberoi, Manju Warrier, Tovino Thomas, Prithviraj Sukumaran, Indrajith Sukumaran, Sai Kumar, Baiju Santhosh, Kalabhavan Shajohn, Saniya Iyappan, Nyla Usha, Suresh Chandra Menon, Fazil and Sachin Khedekar. Deepak Dev composed the film's music, and the cinematography was handled by Sujith Vaassudev.
Lukka Chuppi is a 2015 Indian Malayalam-language drama film co-produced and directed by Bash Mohammed and written by Gafoor Arackkal from a story by Mohammed. The film features an ensemble cast led by Jayasurya, Murali Gopy, Joju George, Ramya Nambeeshan, Chinnu Kuruvila, Muthumani, Dinesh Prabhakar, and Asmita Sood. The film was produced by Gokulam Gopalan and stars Dileep as the titular antagonist, along with Siddharth, Namitha Pramod, Bobby Simha, Murali Gopi, Shwetha Menon, Manikuttan, Vijayaraghavan, and Siddique in Supporting roles. It marks the Malayalam film debut of Siddharth. Principal photography began on 18 August 2016 in Kochi. The film was released in India on 14 April 2018. The film won the National Film Award for Best Production Design.
Aami is a 2018 Indian Malayalam-language biographical film based on the life of poet-author Kamala Das. It is written and directed by Kamal and stars Manju Warrier as Kamala Surayya, along with Murali Gopy, Tovino Thomas, Anoop Menon, and Anand Bal. The film was released on 9 February 2018. It won two Kerala State Film Awards.
Thakkol (transl. Key) is a 2019 Indian Malayalam-language thriller film directed by Kiron Prabhakaran and starring Indrajith Sukumaran and Murali Gopy. The film was in production for over a year. The lead cast had previously starred together in Ee Adutha Kaalathu (2012), Left Right Left (2013) and Tiyaan (2017). The film is produced by director Shaji Kailas. Sukumaran and Gopy play priests in the film. The film was predominantly shot in Goa.

L2: Empuraan, also called L2E, is an upcoming Indian Malayalam-language action thriller film directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran and written by Murali Gopy. It is the second instalment in a planned trilogy, following the 2019 film Lucifer. The film is jointly produced by Lyca Productions and Aashirvad Cinemas. It stars Mohanlal as Khureshi-Ab'raam / Stephen Nedumpally, reprising his role from the original, alongside, an ensemble cast of Prithviraj Sukumaran, Tovino Thomas, Indrajith Sukumaran, Manju Warrier, Saniya Iyappan, Arjun Das, Saikumar, Baiju Santhosh, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Fazil and Sachin Khedekar.
