Anate "Ann" Augustine (born 1989) [1] is an Indian actress who appears in Malayalam films. [2] She is the daughter of Malayalam actor Augustine. She made her debut in Lal Jose's Elsamma Enna Aankutty (2010). [3] [4] [5] [6] [7]

Early life and education

Ann Augustine was born in Calicut to veteran actor Augustine and Hancy Augustine. Ann did her early part of school in Presentation Higher Secondary School in Calicut and later in Sacred Heart School. [8] In 2010, she graduated in psychology from Kristu Jayanti College, Bengaluru. [9] Later, she completed her post-graduation in Psychology from Jain University, Bengaluru. [10]

Career

She started her acting career during her final year of graduation with Lal Jose's Elsamma Enna Aankutty where she played the title role. [11] The film was a commercial success and her performance was highly appreciated by critics. Her portrayal of 'Gayathri' in Artist garnered many accolades including the Kerala State Film Awards for Best Actress. [12]

Personal life

Ann Augustine married cinematographer Jomon T. John on 2 February 2014. [13] They got divorced in 2021. She took a break from acting after her father's demise and resumed in 2015 with Nee-Na . [14] [15]

The Kerala State Film Award for Best Actress is an award presented annually at the Kerala State Film Awards of India since 1969 to an actress for the best performance within the Malayalam film industry. Until 1997, the awards were managed directly by the Department of Cultural Affairs, Government of Kerala. Since 1998, the Kerala State Chalachitra Academy, an autonomous non-profit organisation functioning under the Department of Cultural Affairs, has been exercising control over the awards. Elsamma Enna Aankutty is a 2010 Malayalam-language romantic comedy film directed by Lal Jose and written by M. Sindhuraj and Sangeeth Kollam starring Ann Augustine, Kunchacko Boban and Indrajith Sukumaran. The film was produced by Rejaputhra Visual Media and distributed by Lal Creations.

The 13th Asianet Film Awards honors the best films in 2010 and was held on 9 January 2011 at Willingdon Island in Kochi. The winners were announced on 1 January 2011. The title sponsor of the event is Ujala.
