Vincy Sony Aloshious [1] (born 12 December 1995) is an Indian actress who works in Malayalam films. She won the Kerala State Film Award for Best Actress at 53rd Kerala State Film Awards for her performance as Rekha in the 2023 Malayalam film, Rekha . [2]

Contents

She was a finalist in the talent-hunt show Nayika Nayakan in 2018. [3] She made her feature film debut as one of the female leads in the 2019 Malayalam comedy-drama film Vikruthi , opposite to Soubin Shahir. [4] She played critically acclaimed pivotal roles in Kanakam Kaamini Kalaham (2021), Bheemante Vazhi (2021) and Jana Gana Mana (2022). [5] [6] [7]

Early life

Vincy Aloshious was born as Vincy P.A [1] on 12 December 1995 [8] in Ponnani in Malappuram of Kerala. [9] Her father Aloshious was a driver. Her mother Sony was a teacher. Her brother, Vipin works abroad. [10] She completed her high school education from Bishop Cotton Convent Girls High school.[ citation needed ] She pursued a bachelor's degree in architecture from Asian School of Architecture. [11]

Career

Vincy was the runner-up of 2018 talent-hunt show Nayika Nayakan telecasted on Mazhavil Manorama. [12] [13] [14] She appeared in an advertisement as a pregnant lady along with Manju Warrier following the success of the show. [15] She hosted the dance reality show D5 Junior on Mazhavil Manorama in 2019. [16] Her popularity from Nayika Nayakan paved way [17] to her feature film debut in 2019 with a leading role in Vikruthi opposite Suraj Venjaramood and Soubin Shahir. [18] [19] Her portrayal of Zeenath; girlfriend turned wife of Sameer, played by Shahir received positive reviews. [20]

She played Shalini, a receptionist in the 2021 satire film Kanakam Kaamini Kalaham directed by Ratheesh Balakrishnan Poduval. [21] Her performance generally received positive reviews. [5] Though Shruthi Hemachandran of Filmibeat was more critical about her performance and commented: "at some point in time the character portrayed by Vincy Aloshious seemed confused and even lacked depth". [22] Her second release in 2021 was Bheemante Vazhi in which she played Blessy, a pet owner’s daughter who is in an affair with Bheeman played by Kunchako Boban. [23] [24] Arun George of Onmanorama called her character a "memorable cameo". [7] She appeared in Karikku mini-series Kalakkachi in the same year. [25] [26] She also played the title character in the 2022 webseries Emily. [27] She played Emily, who becomes a psychopathic killer due to years of clinical depression. Reviewing her performance, The New Indian Express wrote: "Vincy’s transformation from a frightened woman who faces her killer to a psychopath who kills her own brother is a testimony to her versatility", [28] while The Times of India thought she "proves her acting mettle". [29]

She played a supporting role of Gouri Lakshmi, a students' leader in Jana Gana Mana . [30] Reviewing her performance for The Week, Ancy K Sunny called her performance "note-worthy" and though it "proves she is here to stay for a long time". [6] The film was a critical and commercial success. [31] She played a civil police officer in Solamante Theneechakal . [32]

Vikruthi (transl. Mischief) is a 2019 Indian Malayalam-language comedy drama film directed by Emcy Joseph and produced by A. D. Sreekumar, Ganesh Menon and Lakshmi Warrier. The film stars Suraj Venjarammoodu and Soubin Shahir in the lead roles. The film is based on true events that occurred on a Kochi Metro train, where a picture of a sleeping hearing/speech-impaired man was taken and shared online by a passenger assuming he was drunk. It upsets the man and his family after it goes viral. The film was released on 4 October 2019. The film was remade in Tamil as Payanigal Gavanikkavum.

Bheemante Vazhi is a 2021 Indian Malayalam-language comedy drama film directed by Ashraf Hamza and written by Chemban Vinod Jose. It stars Kunchacko Boban and Megha Thomas, with Jose, Jinu Joseph, Naseer Sankranthi, Divya M Nair and Chinnu Chandni in supporting roles. Vishnu Vijay composed the original songs and background score. Chemban Vinod Jose produced the film under Chembosky Motion Pictures in association with Rima Kallingal-Aashiq Abu's OPM Cinemas. The film received generally negative reviews from critics.

Kanakam Kaamini Kalaham is a 2021 Indian Malayalam-language satirical film written and directed by Ratheesh Balakrishnan Poduval. The film stars Nivin Pauly and Grace Antony in lead roles while Vinay Forrt, Vincy Aloshious, Sudheesh, Jaffar Idukki, Joy Mathew, Sivadas Kannur and Rajesh Madhavan in supporting roles.
