Nimisha Sajayan is an Indian actress who has been appearing in Malayalam and Tamil language movies in addition to a Marathi and an English language film. Nimisha made her acting debut with the film Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum directed by Dileesh Pothan. [1] She won the Kerala State Film Award for Best Actress in 2018 for her performance in Oru Kuprasidha Payyan and Chola . She is also a recipient of two Filmfare Award South and three SIIMA Awards.

Early and personal life

Nimisha was born in Mumbai, India to Sajayan, an engineer and Bindhu Sajayan. Her mother's ancestral home is in Punalur, Kerala. [2]

Nimisha attended Carmel Convent School, Mumbai and graduated from KJ Somaiya College, Mumbai. [3]

Acting career

Nimisha started her acting career with the film Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum , directed by Dileesh Pothan. [4] She then played the lead role in editor B. Ajithk and Rajeev Ravi's 'Eeda'. [5] [6] She won the 49th Kerala State Film Award for Best actress in 2019 for the movies Oru Kuprasidha Payyan directed by Madhupal and Chola directed by Sanal Kumar Sasidharan. [7] Chola premiered at several International Film Festival. [8]

In 2021, she acted in The Great Indian Kitchen . The film as well as her performance were well received. [9] The same year, she played lead roles in Nayattu and Malik . In 2022 she was a part of Oru Thekkan Thallu Case , Innale Vare and Heaven . Her upcoming films are Thuramukham and Chera. She made her Tamil debut through A.L Vijay's Mission: Chapter 1 - Achcham Enbathu Illaiyae film but her first release in Tamil was Chithha in 2023.

The film received the Best Feature Film in Malayalam Award at the 64th National Film Awards. Pothan also won the Best Director Award at the 64th Filmfare Awards South.

Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum is a 2017 Indian Malayalam-language crime drama film directed by Dileesh Pothan and written by Sajeev Pazhoor. The film stars Fahadh Faasil and Suraj Venjaramoodu, with Nimisha Sajayan, Alencier Ley Lopez, Vettukili Prakash, and Sibi Thomas in supporting roles. Syam Pushkaran served as a creative director of the film. Bijibal composed the music and Rajeev Ravi handled the cinematography.

<i>Eeda</i> 2018 film directed by B Ajithkumar

Eeda (transl. Here) is a 2018 Indian Malayalam-language romance film written, edited and directed by B. Ajithkumar. The film is a modern take on William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, set in the backdrops of political violence in Kannur, north Malabar. Shane Nigam and Nimisha Sajayan play the lead roles. Eeda was produced by Sharmila Rajaa through Delta Studio, in collaboration with Collective Phase One. The executive producers were TRS Muthukumaar, K.J. Ayyappan, and Sukumar Thekkepatt. The film won the John Abraham Award for Best Malayalam Film in 2017.

M. Chidambaran, Gopan's father. The film stars Nivin Pauly, Indrajith Sukumaran, Joju George, Arjun Ashokan, Sudev Nair, Manikandan R. Achari, Senthil Krishna, Nimisha Sajayan, Poornima Indrajith, and Darshana Rajendran in prominent roles. It presents the harbor workers protest against the Chappa labor allocation system practiced during the 1940s and 50s in Cochin district of Kerala.

The Great Indian Kitchen is a 2021 Indian Malayalam-language drama film written and directed by Jeo Baby. The film tells the story of a newly-wed woman who struggles to be the submissive wife that her husband and his family expect her to be. The music was composed by Sooraj S. Kurup and Mathews Pulickan.

Kiran Das is an Indian film editor who predominantly works in Malayalam cinema. He is a recipient of the Kerala State Film Award for Best Editor in 2019 for the movie Ishq. His other notable works include Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum (2017), Joseph (2018), Ambili (2019) and Joji (2021).

<i>Chithha</i> 2023 Indian drama film

Chithha is a 2023 Indian Tamil-language drama thriller film written and directed by S. U. Arun Kumar and produced by Siddharth, who stars in the lead role alongside Nimisha Sajayan, and Anjali Nair in addition to Baby Sahasra Shree and Baby S. Aafiyah Tasneem in the prominent roles. The film revolves around the relationship between a paternal uncle and his niece which goes through several circumstances after the latter goes missing.

Suraj Vasudevan known as Suraj Venjaramoodu, is an Indian actor, comedian, and television presenter, who appears in Malayalam films, television and stage plays. He has won a National Film Award and four Kerala State Film Awards.
