Real (stylized as ЯeaL) is a Japanese all-female rock band formed in Osaka Prefecture in 2012. [1] The original lineup of Ryoko, Yurika, Fumiha, and Aika was solidified when they were in junior high school. The band made their major label debut in 2016 with the release of the single "Byōsoku Emotion" (秒速エモーション) on SME Records. Their song "Kagerō" (カゲロウ) was used as an opening theme of the anime television series Gin Tama . Guitarist Yurika left the band following the tour for their first album 19 in 2017. The group's music has also been featured in Pokémon The Series: Sun & Moon and Boruto: Naruto Next Generations . Real became an independent band again in 2021, and Yuri officially joined as guitarist the following year.

History

Members Ryoko and Yurika met while in junior high school. Yurika had originally considered pursuing a career as a voice actor, but instead decided to take up music. Ryoko joined a school music contest alone and placed as a finalist, and decided to team up with Yurika to increase their chances of winning, although they would ultimately end up losing. Nevertheless, the two decided to continue on collaborating and form a band. They would be joined by two further members: Fumiha, who the two had known from online exchanges, and Fumiha's schoolmate Aika. [2] The name "ЯeaL" was chosen because of a desire to use a "cool" English word. At the time, Yurika settled on the word "Real" but found it to be uninteresting, but after discovering the Cyrillic letter Я, she decided to incorporate that in the band's name. She found the letter appropriate, as it would represent the showing of the "real inside and outside" of the band, while also reflecting the letter's use as a Russian word for "I". [3]

The band began performing at various live houses in Osaka, but initially did not gain much popularity, almost leading to their dissolution. [2] Eventually, the band's popularity began to increase, and they ended up competing in the Eo Music Try contest in 2013, where they placed as a finalist. [2] [4] During this time they also released their first self-produced CD. [5] In 2014 the band released the mini-album Change Your Real. [6] In 2015, the band performed at Summer Sonic, a large music festival in Osaka, where they received two awards and praise from judges. [7]

The band made its major debut under SME Records in 2016, releasing their first major single "Byōsoku Emotion" (秒速エモーション, Per-second Emotion) on March 9 of that year. [8] Their second major single "Kamen Mīhā Joshi" (仮面ミーハー女子) was released on August 3, 2016; the title song was used as an opening theme in the TBS television program Rank Ōkoku. [9] Their third single "Kagerō" (カゲロウ, Mayfly) was released on March 1, 2017; the title song is used as an opening theme in the anime television series Gin Tama . [10] [11] They released their first album 19. on May 10, 2017. [12] Following the album's release, Yurika announced that she would be leaving the band following the end of their album promotional tour, leaving Ryoko, Fumiha, and Aika as remaining members. [13]

The band's fourth single "Mirai Connection" (未来コネクション, Future Connection) was released on May 2, 2018; the title song is used as an opening theme in the anime series Pokémon the Series: Sun & Moon – Ultra Adventures . [14] The band also made voice cameos in an episode of the series. [15] Their fifth single "Tsuyogari Loser" (強がりLOSER) was released on February 20, 2019; the title song is used as an opening theme in the anime series Boruto: Naruto Next Generations . [16] [17] Their second major album Light Up Ambivalents (ライトアップアンビバレンツ) was released on September 16, 2020. [18]

Real became an independent band again when their contract with SME ended at the end of 2020. [19] Support guitarist Yuri officially joined the band in 2022. [20]

Happy-Go-Lucky Days is a Japanese manga series by Takako Shimura. It was serialized in Ohta Publishing's manga magazine Manga Erotics F from 2002 to 2004 and was collected in two large-sized tankōbon volumes. The manga is a collection of short episodes that depict slightly eccentric love stories and mundane daily life in a matter-of-fact manner with a unique tempo and delicate psychological descriptions. Most of the episodes in the collection have direct sexual depictions, although they are drawn in a light-hearted way. The manga's title comes from the book Herahera Botchan by Kō Machida.

Nano Ripe is a Japanese pop rock duo that formed in 1998 as an indie band. They released three singles and four mini-albums before being signed to Lantis in 2010. Although the core of the band is made up of Kimiko and Jun Sasaki, when they debuted on Lantis in 2010, the band also consisted of bassist Nobuyuki Abe and drummer Shinn. Shinn left the band in 2011, but Yūki Aoyama joined the band as the drummer in 2013. Abe and Aoyama left the band in 2016.

Boruto: Naruto the Movie is a 2015 Japanese animated fantasy film and the directorial debut of Hiroyuki Yamashita. It is based on Masashi Kishimoto's manga and anime Naruto, and is the second film to be a part of the canonical Naruto storyline, being a sequel to the manga series. It stars Yūko Sanpei, Junko Takeuchi, Kokoro Kikuchi and Noriaki Sugiyama. Set after the finale of Naruto, the film focuses on the title character Boruto Uzumaki, son of Naruto's protagonist, Naruto Uzumaki, who cannot stay with his family due to being the leader of his ninja village. Vigilante Sasuke Uchiha returns to the village with warnings about two beings who might become a big threat to the world peace the ninjas managed to bring about in the original series.

Kana-Boon is a Japanese rock band formed in 2008. They made their major debut with Ki/oon Music in 2013. Ever since, they've had four albums reach the top ten on the weekly Oricon Albums Chart, with Doppel being their best-charting album, reaching the third place on the chart. They have also had five singles reach the top ten on the weekly Oricon Singles Chart, with "Full Drive" (フルドライブ) being their best-charting single, reaching the sixth place on the chart. Three of their singles have been used in the Naruto franchise, with "Silhouette" being used as the 16th Naruto Shippuden opening theme, and "Diver" as the theme song for Boruto: Naruto the Movie and Baton Road as the first season opening for Boruto: Naruto Next Generations. The episodes from the anime television series Gintama. (銀魂．) are based on the Gin Tama manga by Hideaki Sorachi. The series premiered in TV Tokyo on January 8, 2017. It is a sequel to the Gintama° anime series which aired in 2015 and ended in 2016. The studio making the new season is BN Pictures, a new subsidiary of Bandai Namco Entertainment. Chizuru Miyawaki is directing the new season with previous season's director Yoichi Fujita supervising. The series continues the story of eccentric samurai, Gintoki Sakata, his apprentice, Shinpachi Shimura, and a teenage alien girl named Kagura and their work as freelancers, who do odd jobs in order to pay the rent, which usually goes unpaid anyway. Crunchyroll later added the anime series for its streaming service.

Anly is a Japanese pop singer-songwriter from Ie, Okinawa. She started playing the guitar at six years old, and started writing music in junior high school. In high school, she played live at various locations in Okinawa and Tokyo, allowing her to release two indie singles in 2015 before being signed to Sony Music Records. She released her debut single "Taiyō ni Warae" in 2015 and her debut album Anly One in 2017.

Yurika Kobayashi, mononymously known by the stage name Yurika is a Japanese musician from Hasuda, Saitama who is signed to Toho Animation Records. She made her professional debut in 2017 with the release of the single "Shiny Ray", the title track of which was used as the first opening theme to the anime television series Little Witch Academia.

Qyoto was a Japanese pop band under the Ariola Japan label, who formed in 2016 and made major debut with the single Taiyo wa Hitori Hocchi in 2017, served as a theme song for the television series Dive!!. The band name comes from spelling Kyoto. Their main producer was Daiko Nagato from recording company B Zone

Alisa Takigawa is a Japanese musician from Tokyo who is signed to SME Records. She made her music debut in 2015 with the release of her first single "Season", the title track of which was used as an ending theme to the anime series The Seven Deadly Sins. Her music has also been featured in anime series such as Owarimonogatari, All Out!!, and Domestic Girlfriend.

Battle Game in 5 Seconds also known as Battle in 5 Seconds After Meeting is a Japanese manga series, written by Saizō Harawata and illustrated by Kashiwa Miyako. It has been serialized in Shogakukan's MangaONE app and Ura Sunday website since August 2015. It is a remake of Harawata's webcomic by the same name. An anime television series adaptation by SynergySP and Vega Entertainment aired from July to September 2021.

Miki Satō is a Japanese musician from Hokkaido who is signed to Sacra Music. She began her activities in 2020 with the release of her first single "Namonai Hana", the title track of which was used as the ending theme to the second season of The Irregular at Magic High School.

Friends (フレンズ) is a Japanese rock band from Tokyo which is signed to Sony Music Entertainment Japan.
