Background
Writing of Red Light Fever began when lead vocalist Justin Hawkins left The Darkness. Several demos were leaked onto the internet mid-2007, leading many people to believe he was releasing a solo album, however, in August 2008 it was announced that Hawkins had formed a band with which to bring his newly penned music to the public again. In January 2009, it was announced via the band's MySpace page that the debut album would be released in Europe on 9 February.
Songs featured on the album include, "Whichever Way You Want to Give It", "You Can't Hurt Me Anymore", "Gay in the 80s", the download-only single "Trojan Guitar" and Christmas 'super-smash' "I've Met Jesus". Promotional song "Heroes" was not included on the album. Other songs on the album include; "Chickens", "Prima Donna" and "Cocktails", their first major single release.
Every track on the record was scored, performed and recorded by Hawkins. The album was mastered by Stephen Marcussen at Marcussen Mastering. Chas Bayfield, formerly of E-Wing, Team Pig and The International Christian Playboys, co-wrote lyrics to the tracks "Cocktails", "Gay in the 80s" and "I've Met Jesus". Hawkins' Eurovision collaborator Beverlei Brown appears on the track "Ashamed".
The Darkness are a British rock band that formed in Lowestoft, England in 2000. The band consists of Justin Hawkins, his brother Dan Hawkins, Frankie Poullain and Rufus Tiger Taylor.

He is also the lead singer and guitarist for the band Hot Leg, formed in 2008 and now on hiatus. As of 2021, Hawkins has been active on his YouTube channel entitled ‘Justin Hawkins Rides Again’, often giving his comedic analysis on particular songs or artists in addition to covering news in the musical community.

It combines dark lyrics in the verses with upbeat pop instrumentation. The music was composed by Jerry Garcia, and the lyrics were written by Robert Hunter. It was also released as a music video, the first one by the Grateful Dead.

Taylor Hawkins & The Coattail Riders was an American rock band founded by Taylor Hawkins, drummer for Foo Fighters. Hawkins was the drummer and vocalist for the trio. Other band members have included Chris Chaney on bass, Gannin Arnold on guitar and support vocals, and Nate Wood on guitar and support vocals. Chaney and Hawkins had previously played in Alanis Morissette's tour band, Sexual Chocolate. The Coattail Riders disbanded when Hawkins died on March 25, 2022.

Feel the Steel is the debut studio album by American glam metal band Steel Panther. It was released first in Europe on June 8, 2009, on Universal Records.
